my sister is 12 and in home school -she uses the daily bread or there are devotionals at your nearest bible store. As for the daily bread we do something cool since we have time. We read the assigned verses and do this in a notebook. S.O.A.P. I think we got this from Rick Warrens Church. Scripture: (choose onr that sticks out to you. Maybe one that you feel God is speaking to you about.) Observation: (what does it mean to you? What do you think God is speaking to you?) Application: (What am I going to do about what I learned?) Prayer: (whats my prayer about what I learned about myself and the Lords word?) Then we make Title and topic. So it will look like this: This is one of mine. Daily Devotion 3/19 Title: Faith of Abraham Topic: Consistency S//: Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. O//: Abraham believed God. He went out not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8. We do not fully know the circumstances in his life that he faced at the time. So when he was asked to go and leave behind the things and people he loved it must have been a struggle for him. Imagine now at this very moment leaving everything and everyone you have now. How would you feel? For me it would hurt. And I’m sure it did for Abraham. Living a life of faith means never knowing where you are being led. But it does mean loving and knowing the One who is leading. It is literally a life of faith, not of understanding and reason—a life of knowing Him who calls us to go. Faith is rooted in the knowledge of a Person, and one of the biggest traps we fall into is the belief that if we have faith, God will surely lead us to success in the world. Knowing that there is a possibility that we will not be lead to success at times but possibly pain -are you willing to be consistent day in and day out no matter what? Abraham was and later much later is reaping the harvest for it. A//: We don’t the timing or reasoning of God. All we know is our Faith for Him. Everyday we have to make a consistent choice to be faithful no matter the outcome of the day. Not growing weary or faint when faced with painful circumstances but instead move forward as Abraham did not knowing where he was being led. P//: Lord, I know you know me. I know you see the hurt I feel when leaving things behind. But, I also know you see my desire to follow you no matter what. My mind can be come mix up. Afraid to leave things behind. Help me in times when my flesh is weak. Be my strength and the love the led me forward. I know your plans are to make me the best I can be and I’m willing to follow you no matter where it may led- even through tears. In Jesus Name Amen. Hope you find this helpful. Then we read the daily bread story and learn two things.
