In light of the most recent Rasmussen poll on the congressional approval ratings, I thought I would do a non-scientific poll of you the CCMMagazine Forums reader. I am rather distraught with my representatives in both houses of congress. I try to submit letters of disapproval/approval of bills before them but I get some jolly happy painted newsletter that I didn't ask for or some form letter that they send out to any and everyone who submits a question to their office. I can never actually get a valid repsonse...

Rasmussen Story Here

From the story:
quote:

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.

Here are my people in Congress and how I feel about them:

Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) is usually right.
Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) is sometimes right.
Representative Bob Ethridge (D-NC) is almost always wrong.

Just my opinion...............

I love my Representative, Michelle Bachmann

I am lukewarm toward Senator Norm Coleman, and don't particularly care for Amy Klobuchar, whom I once worked with.

The bottom line is that as I get older themore I see the US Congress being more and more ineffective in doing its job because their members seem more interested in other things (Power, pleasing as many people as possible) than they are in addressing and doing something positive about the issues and threats that really face this country..

I am very pleased with our national representation which consist of;

U.S. Representative Tom Cole
U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe
U.S. Senator Tom Coburn

Staunch conservatives all.

I know all of them and they are sincere Christians and honest men (a real rarity among politicians).

Thanks
RC

Congresswoman Candice MIller from the Michigan 10th Congressinal District - ROCKS!!!!!
Senator Debbie Stabanow- Gets at least a B-, but then she's a bit more liberal than I (I'm a Independant)
Senator Carl Levin - Oh Puu-leeeeez! Can't we get rid of this guy! In my book- he toes the Liberal line all to well, and therefore- I can at best only muster a C- for him.

My Representative campaigned as a Republican for the most part, got to Congress and turned left with a vengeance. She's a disgrace right out of the Daschle mold and will, unfortunately, be kept in office indefinitely by voters too willfully ignorant and happy to revel in farm welfare checks and the occasional jeans-and-flannel shirt appearances whenever it's time to get re-elected. She campaigned as a fiscal conservative then proceeded to add earmark funding of unprecedented levels right after speaking out against the practice during the campaign.

My Senator, Tim Johnson (D), had huge medical problems in his last term, can't speak a coherent line of English, spent the last two years in a healthcare facility, and has the audacity to run for another 6 year term this year and will probably be re-elected on sympathy alone, when he ought to be home knitting a blanket. Voters are dumber than a bag of hammers from time to time.

My other Senator, John Thune is apparently one of the favorites to be McCain's VP selection. I hope it isn't so, though, so we can keep at least one decent representative in DC. John Thune, other than his idiotic support of ethanol, has been a great representative.

It's hard to understand my state, politically. It's very conservative, but we send a lot of wingnut donks to DC, many of whom, such as Daschle, Abourezk and McGovern, I'm very ashamed to share a state with.

I could care less about Mary Landrieu although she's moving right of center the closer to reelection time. I don't have a big problem with Vitter as far as his record goes. He has of course the DC Madam problem but he has done an excellent job of tending to the needs of his constituents outside of New Orleans, unlike Sinator Mary.

My representative Charles Boustany, R is also an excellent congressman and most of the others have done a decent job. Then there's Dollar Bill Jefferson.
