Dear Friends,

In recent months several of our community members have expressed a concern that the community administrators of the Salem Web Network websites, have “conspired” to remove Crossdaily members from our chat and/or forums.

We assure all of our users that this is not the case.

Prior to its purchase by the Salem Web Network (a division of Salem Communications), Crossdaily.com chat and forums operated under a code of conduct that was much different than what we have at Salem Web. Furthermore, they operated without much enforcement of their code of conduct.

As this was the case, some Crossdaily.com members became accustomed to engaging in activities that are contrary to our code of conduct at Salem Web. When we merged the community onto our chat network it would seem that many of our Crossdaily members experienced a bit of cultural shock. Regrettably, we have been forced to ban many of these community members from our network because they have refused to abide by our guidelines.

To be completely clear, our chat and forums are not intended to be used as a "pick up joint." While online dating may occur it is not the intent or purpose of the chat and forums. Members who use our chat to engage in "cybersex" or "online affairs" will be banned without further warning. Members who choose to use our community to arrange to engage in this conduct elsewhere will also be banned without further notice.

We sincerely desire to offer an enjoyable and uplifting experience for all of our members. Conduct intended to disrupt the manner in which our community is managed will not be tolerated and members may be banned without notice or discussion.

To enforce an acceptable code of conduct in our community, Salem Web has instituted ‘Terms of Service’ that lays out detailed guidelines for interaction in the community while minimizing the occurrence of undesirable behavior that has become so prevalent in other chat rooms and forums. For the safety of our members, we have always strictly enforced our Terms of Service. All members of the community are required to say they will abide by our Terms of Service before they are allowed to participate in our online community. By entering the community, a member agrees to abide by the decisions of administrative personnel regarding all community conduct.

These rules were not created in an arbitrary fashion. They are the result of many years of operating in an online environment, with the input of many of our managers here at Salem Communications. It falls to our Community Manager and his team of volunteers to enforce our Terms of Service on behalf of Salem Web. This team does not exist in a vacuum; they are responsible to other managers on up the chain of command. Rules are not selectively enforced on Crossdaily members, they are the same rules by which all members must abide.

Our chat and forums offer opportunities to minister and encourage people from all walks of life and from the remotest areas of the globe. Many hundreds of people manage to participate and stay within our Terms of Service. It is always unfortunate when we are forced to ban a member. We are however, firmly committed to providing as secure and God-honoring an environment for our community members as possible.
