I am wondering what you think about avatars. Does it shape your view of the person, and how you respond to them in a post. Do you pay attention to them? Do you find some offensive? Without pointing anyone out, what types avatars offend you? If some do actually offend you. I have a reason for asking. Thank You for thoughtful replies.

the only ones i could do without looking at are of the women who try to pose with a sexy pouty look on their faces, or wearing skimpy low cut shirts....other than that, i could care less.

Yeah, that gets a little on my nerves, but does not offend. I hope my dress is not to short in mine, it is showing underware.

one that shapes my view, of a person is sports ones. I think jock, and they will be strong personalities. Not offensive though.

Well I hope mine doesn't offend anyone 'cause there's not a whole lot I can do to change it short of cosmetic surgery

I agree with elastic that the only ones I've ever seen that were offensive to me were obviously meant to look "sexy". You know, the kind of picture that looks like it belongs to a 20 something floozy on Myspace.

What about the creepy ones? You know the demon looking creatures, always appear around halloween, by people ( no offense) that think they are pocessed.

I admit, first impression stay with me and one's avatars(and signature line)sets the tone for one's post.

LOL Good point! Yes, I suppose certain aspects of my avatar will be changing shortly.

I've never seen any avatars that looked particularly creepy. I've seen a few that are obviously some type of fantasy character, but nothing that looked demonic to me. Maybe I'm just not hanging out in the right threads.

I hope no one has this one at this time. The baby doing a doody, and has the expression on his face. Do not like that one. ( sorry)

I'd like to think avatars give us a little insight into one another's personalities. I can't say I've ever been offended by one.

I have had someone email me to ask me why I was only showing half my face. . .

What am I hiding on the other side? Why the mystery?

Answer here.

I like it, Earthless!

As far as mine, well, Taz pretty much exemplifies me. Spinning, madly spinning, usually generating more heat than light...

after many years on this board, i have come to the conclusion that no matter what, there will always be someone offended by something, even if nobody else is offended by it.

i don't mind avatars really. i'm glad we aren't too restricted on what we can use for them...as in i'm glad we don't have to stick to the options they give us, and we have freedom to (within reason) select something that we feel represents us.

and if it is something that offends me, i just ignore it, or ignore that poster,..you can always press the block feature so you don't have to see it ever again.

Old women trying to look young and sexy...those irritate me.

The ones that seem to be daring a mod's response can be irritating too.

I do tend to start off judging someone by their avatar, but that can change as they post.

Some people are way too easily offended. There could be a rule that all avatars had to be crosses, pictures of Jesus or fish symbols and someone would still find something to get offended about. Without freedom of expression (within reason of course) this would be a pretty boring place.

Ben, Oh No!!!!!!!!!!!!! was it an accident? My avatar makes my eldest DD laugh, and she offends me. She said it is creepy, and my photo looks like a bride of chuckie doll. She says it does not look real. I say thank you flesh of my flesh.

The big one or the little one?

I'm very offended of babies posting in my forums.
