Bad Spirits or Demonic Forces at Work?? - 8/4/2008 7:04:22 AM

I have, in the past, disregarded the possibility that demonic forces could have much influence. I was brought up in a mainline Protestant denomination and frankly, we didn't dwell on the influences of Satan much. The whole subject just wasn't talked about.
Anyway, I'm starting to re-think this. My parents have had a succession of "bad luck" lately from car accidents to random trees just falling on their house.
I'm starting to think that there are bad spirits at work. Can anyone give me some guidance on this subject?

Doin, I know exactly what you mean. I grew up in a small-town Methodist Church and I don't recall learning anything much (other than the bare basic) about Satan or demonic forces.
Now I'm in a Non-Denominational church, and we're taught quite a bit about it. The enemy is absolutely hard at work in all of our lives. I can't say what the case is with your parents, but it's certainly a possibility.

Well, it depends....
If their car accidents were a result of their poor driving skills and if the trees fell on their house because they should have been trimmed a year ago, then I'd say, it is not "demons" or "bad spirits."
I used to have a co-worker who called everything bad that happened in her life spiritual warfare or an attack from the enmey. Actually most of it was because she was negligent. Like the time her car broke down and she called it a demonic attack, but when questioned further, she admitted that she never checked the oil.
Well, there ya go!!!

Wisely said, Kat! Yes, satan and demonic forces are at work in the world today but they get far too much attention and press (talk) IMO. As Mousey wisely said if you resist them, they will flee and they tremble at the name of Jesus. Jesus is the Victor and greater so we have truly nothing to fear.
God works ALL things together for good, even car accidents and trees falling, in the lives of those who love Him. And we know that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. If your parents seek the Lord in all of these things, they will find He is faithful and will see them through. Bless ya!  LL
