Just recently I went shopping at our local farmers market and I found something new in the way of oranges that I've never seen before. They are called blood oranges. They have a deep redish color to them on the inside, and an orange skin on the outside. I have not tried them yet. They don't look very appetiizing.
Does anyone know anything about this type of orange?

They are great in salads and you can add other things to the juice for the dressing.

Oh I love those red oranges. There are more sugary than the regular ones. Equally, there are red grapefruit as well which I also love more than the regular ones. So go for it, try them. They are really tasty!

Oh, yes! These are VERY yummy! I bought some unknowingly not long ago (they look like typical oranges from the outside) and they were very sweet and had a grapefruit-y flavor. Yum! I think at our grocery store they were marketed as "ruby reds".

As nearly everyone had already said, they are sweeter than the average orange.
I'm not a fan of them, but they do bring a different flavor to the mix of orange types if you like to mix-n-match.
