"If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity."
2 Cor 11:30

I am a person who deals with the effects of severe arthritis. The effects are visible to others (I have pain and stiffness).

When a person notices my illness, how can I use this opportunity to bring glory to God? Instead of feeling nervous or worried or uncomfortable, how can I boast about this ailment, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me?

My personal belief is to have a positive, joyful outlook, being thankful to God in all things by example. People will wonder how you do it, even if they don't ask. But when they do ask, don't hesitate to tell them.

Hi Concerto,

I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis - I know it can be very painful.

A person I know who suffers from many illnesses, whenever I ask him how he is getting on, (I know he'll never get well because of his illnesses) he always replies: I'm managing - there are so many others so much worse off than me. God's been good to me - I'm managing.

I hope this helps - and may God be with you always.

That's a good response.

Hi Concerto-- let me offer my sympathies as well. I, too, manage a chronic condition.

Obviously, the point here is that God is glorified in that we do the things that we otherwise would not be able to do-- and we give Him the credit. We get to boast in what God is doing in our lives and this may simply be through the attitude with which we face the day! I thin Won_by_one is right in that.

Seek God's hand in your life-- ASK Him to do something through you that could only be because of Him and you will be blessed!

I don't tell people about my "syndrome" because most of the time I look fine. If I am having a bout with it, however, and people find out, then they can marvel at how well I do in spite of battling this almost daily. In that, He is glorified because most people do not live a "normal" life with this. I am grateful every day that I am given the strength to do what I do. I also understand Paul's sentiment when he asked that his "thorn" be removed. If it is not to be removed, then I pray that it is used to God's glory.
