We''ll be there in July and I'm not sure where to stay or how long we should stay. I've seached a few sites for accomodations, but haven't made any yet. Any thoughts?

I haven't been there in a long time but one day is enough for the amusement park. Unless you stay the second day and spend it at the water park.. we lived close enough to drive though. There are height requirements for the roller coasters, since I forgot how old your kids are. It was 48"

2 days for Cedar Point is plenty. One for the rides and one for the water park. If you want to plan a few more days in the area, take day trips to Kelley's Island and Put-n-Bay. If you can, stay in Marblehead.

Thanks for the info. !! I've ben on CP's site and it looked kind of expensive, but I'm gonna check again. We'll be heading there after a few days in at NIagra Falls and planned to stay at the Point for 2 days and 3 nights and head back to home. Our kids are jr hi age and are tall enough for all the rides, thankfully.

I grew up in Michigan and we went to Cedar Point at least once every Summer. I'm sure things have changed in the 25 years or so since I've been there. I just wanted to pop in and say "have fun"!

Cedar Point was never cheap to begin with so plan accordingly. The food prices are probably real high.

As with others who have posted here...I grew up in the Detroit area....went to Cedar MANY MANY times...(though, it has been MANY years since i have been there....almost 20 probably).... Was there when the "Corkscrew" was first opened....and the "Gemini", as well....last time I was there, the "Magnum XL-2000" (i think it was called) was the "latest and greatest" coaster they had. Though, every amusement park I've been to since, just does not "meet" Cedar Point's standards....(6 Flags here in the Dallas area was a HUGE "let down"....i don't even bother going there) It's certainly one of the best amusement parks in the country....if not the world. Expensive? What amusement park, of that scale, isn't? Sure, it'll cost some money....but, it'll definitely be worth it. SPEAKING OF Amusement parks in that region......Bob-Lo Island anyone???? (just curious to see if anyone knows what I am talking about)

Prepare for lines.... prepare for lines... did I mention get ready to stand in lots of lines? I've lived my whole life nearby and go every year. There's no place in the world like it. My biggest beef is the lines. If you want to ride all the thrills, you're going to spend more time in lines than on rides. AAA may be a good place to find a good hotel/ticket package. I know their day passes are better deals. They really need to take after Disney and develop a FastPass kind of system...

The food prices are high, the lines are long and as Kern said it might be the best amusement park anywhere. quote:
Was there when the "Corkscrew" was first opened....and the "Gemini", as well....last time I was there, the "Magnum XL-2000" (i think it was called) was the "latest and greatest" coaster they had. I remember the "I Survived the Gemini" T-Shirts because when that ride opened it was just huge. :D When I went on the first hill of the Magnum for the first time I was in awe when I aimed my camera over the side and took a shot at the Gemini because it looked so small.

I would never go on the Magnum. I suspect I'd be dead by the time I reached the bottom of the first hill. Actually, I think my heart would stop on the way to the top of the first hill just thinking about going down the other side.
