Dd is planning her birthday (slumber) party around the premier of this movie on Disney Channel. One of my friends was just telling me that she wasn't planning to let her dd(s) watch the movie and her dd probably wouldn't be able to spend the night for the birthday party.

OK, I'm as uncomfortable with one world order ideas and the loss of American sovereignty as anyone. But, IMO, it's a political reality and hiding it from my kids wont make it go away.

Is it a sign of the end times? Maybe, maybe not. I was a history major in college so the one thing I know for sure is that efforts to interpret Biblical prophesy in light of current political trends and events is futile. People have been doing it for centuries and, at least till now, they've all been wrong.

I was raised with the "end of the world is coming!" and "the Lord's coming back any minute!" ideas and it's really a waste of time, IMO. Will it be in our lifetime. Maybe but there's nothing we can do about that one way or another. Will my children face trials and tribulation in their lives - YES, regardless of whether or not they live through a "Great Tribulation".

I just don't know how much of that I want to put on my kids. To me, the moral of Revelation is to trust God and it all works out in the end. I don't think it was put in the Bible as a riddle we're supposed to obsess about figuring out.

So my dd's having her slumber party that night. I'll watch it with them. If there's a lot of stuff in it I don't agree with I might talk to the girls (briefly) about it and maybe write a note to their moms to go home in their goodie bags. I don't know.

Should I be worried about this? Dd will not be happy her friend can't stay. This one friend of mine is really into the "prophetic movement" which I really take issue with on several levels. But I really don't think any of the other moms will give this a second thought. What do you think?

I'm not sure the problem with the "one world" theme has anything to do with the end times. The concern could be that the new age "all religions are right" worldview is being espoused. Regardless of what times we are living in, we need to be on guard about that.

I haven't really paid much attention to the movie myself as my kids won't be watching it either. So I can't say much to the movie other than what we see on commercials.

As for Revelations and end times. I think that when to prepare your kids with this information is an individual thing. You have to know what your kid can handle and how big of a dose your kids can handle. We have talked about end times stuff with all of our kids and our eldest (12yo) took a class on it last year in SS... He loved it.

Also, there are people like you and I that just kind of lay back and decide to trust God to take care of things when the time comes, but there are others that God calls to action to better preparedness. There is a necessity for both, but it is not necessary (and even detrimental) to have us all do same thing. We just need to be sure that what we do is according to His will for us.

I would teach your daughter to respect other peoples calling (although I don't know anything about the prophetic movement and how legit it is). It is against her. Just make another get together time with that special friend.

Are you sure that it was because of a "one world" theme that your friend isn't allowing it?

Yea, it is.

Thanks for your thoughts on it.

I read the summary online and can't see how the movie has anything to do with one world order. It's just about the girls going to India to be in a musical, right? (I haven't seen the commercials, though.)

I realize that these things run as undertones and it's usually pretty subtle. It's hard to say since the movie's not out yet, I guess. Here are the lyrics to the theme song...seems pretty bubble-gummy to me. No real political or religious statements being made here, that's for sure...

hey
yay
love always finds a way
every single time
once we learn to trust our heart
and look inside, it feels like
now, we see who we are
in a different light
we're not so far apart and anything is possible

with all the differences, we're stronger here
now the truth has been discovered, oh yeah
after all we've been through, now it's clear
that all of us, we share

one world, one love, one and all
we're a circle together
one world, one heart, one song
now and forever

My 'could probably be much better' understanding of Revelations is that the End will occur when it is supposed to, not when I think it will. There have been many that thought they knew, but were wrong.

My daughter wants to watch the movie and I will probably end up watching it with her. It hasn't been released yet, but from the previews it looks like a pop group travels to India to do some kind of musical. If I had to guess, I'd say they probably get into some kind of "conflict" with some locals and in the end, discover that they have lots in common and everyone becomes friends. I seriously doubt this is part of some pro-World Government agenda.

I have not heard of the movie, but the one of the guys who does their hair is the son of my mom's hair stylist and has had them over a few times. They were nice and even played for the kids that came to meet them. But that is all I know of the Cheetah Girls. My kids are not really into alot of those things because we are always so busy. Sometimes I feel like I am keeping them out of the loop, but then again I am glad because the questions that might arise from them are not asked. I don't know which way is better, but if the mom doesn't want the girl to go to the party, then that is her decision, but I am sure that when the kids all get together, that girl is going to feel pretty left out and may start to seek out answers on her own. That could be worse.

Well from what I see this is an "America meets Bollywood" "all you need is love" type of movie.
I don't see at all where the conspiracy theorists are getting their ideas from, unless it's an ignorant knee-jerk reaction to the title. Ah well!
