Yet another reason why the US needs to bad Chinese imports. These Chinese companies care nothing for human life even their own smallest most vulnerable citizens mean nothing to them.

Well, the thing is though that this is probably not going to happen again. Look what happened to the guy who was in charge of the company that made all those toys with the lead in them. The government doesn't mess around when it comes to things like this, but it is sad that the companies seem to do it more and more often these days.

I dont know they had issues back in 2004 with bogus formula. They killed babies just to make money. I think if a company will make formula knowing it has no nutrition in it for babies in their own country then they sure do not care about safty of anything they make for children of other countries.

OUR Government doesn't mess around, but obviously there is something wrong with China's government. I'm not sure what sort of FDA they have, but it doesn't seem to be very effective.

Ryanne, people seem to suddenly die when things like this happen over there. Especially if it gives them bad press all over the world.

Another reason I breast-feed! Not saying anything is wrong with giving babies formula so please don't misunderstand me. But, for my own peace of mind this is one reason I breast-feed. I know it can happen with regular food as well too, you just never know anymore.

I'm so sad for all the Chinese families who's one and only baby is sick or dead because of this.

Well yeah, they might kill someone but the system is still not effective. Kwim?

Reminds me of the thalidomide scandal. Killed/maimed babies and the companies knew it, but decided to tell everyone in the public that it was the safest thing for pregnant mothers....just because of the $$. It almost got past the FDA in this country as well.

My mom won't give anything to her grandchildren if she knows it came from China. Not after the toys and dog food... and whatever else. She doesn't trust anything from there anymore.

Well effective for some, but not for others who think they won't get caught.

13,000 children now sickened by the tainted milk, and it might not yet be over. Dear me, I didn't think it was this bad.

I'm to the point where Chinese made stuff worries me. With the dog food, I didn't have a dog and so I didn't buy dog food anyway. Even with the toys it didn't concern me too much, since none of the toys that were recalled were toys we bought. And we don't buy formula, either, but this is the third time. It's starting to not just seem like a fluke anymore. If they sell dog food and toys and formula that is unsafe, what kind of other products from China are they selling that isn't safe either?

It has always worried me, but same as the beef recalls we get around here and those are due to unsanitary conditions. Same with resturaunts. You just have to be careful. I guess now China has also taken milk off of the shelves. Just think of all that wasted milk and formula.

the melamine the were using, is actually a filler used for plastic. When it finally settle it hardens. It is horrible that they believed this would pass through a human digestive system.

There were several companies involved in this other than china. But china does not have any regulations so anything goes. This is why many companies manufacture there, it cost them peanuts and they get the tree.

and don't forget the antifreeze in the toothpaste. I agree too many incidents because of someone's greed.

more for less gets you what you pay for
