I have been a closet headbanger( well I quit the headbangin stuff since it make me woozy) anyways I have always loved that music. I gave it up when I was saved back in 1999. I have stuck with worship and some contemporary christian but no rock. I now have a teenager who loves that music. He has some christian but has moved on to secular. Having Jack listen to that brought out that heavy metal bug that never went away. I have a 3 year old however so I want to stick with Christian. I already have switchfoot, Reliant k, Skillet, pillar and a couple others. Whar are some other christian bands I can listen to? I hate screaming! Jack has some of those and sorry I just dont like it. Stuff that sounds more like skillet and Pillar. Any Idea's???

Fireflight
Disciple (some of it's screamo but they have some good songs like After the World and Things Left Unsaid)
Anberlin
Flyleaf
Wavorly

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

What kind of rock are you specifically trying to find?

I just downloaded Bloodgood's (one of the first and best Christian metal bands from the early 80's) self titled album and their follow up, Detonation, from itunes. I would argue that these two albums are possibly some of the best old metal out there. You can't go wrong!

Also, and some people may think I am crazy, but Stryper's album, Reborn, that was released in 2005 (I think) is just plain fun rock and roll. They aren't trying to capitalize on their old 80's MTV schtick, but rather making new, modern rock and roll, albeit Michael Sweet's voice is just the same (excellent!) as it always was. Check out some blurbs from itunes or amazon or christianbook.

Thanks for all the great bands! I will look them up. I can only listen to it at the computer but thats ok if I find one I really really like then I can buy the CD.
The one band I am really hooked on right now is Skillet. There latest album is awesome. Secular wise my son has me hooked on Linkin Park. It is not their new one that I have heard is not as clean as their older ones.
I used to listen to stryper! I did not know they were still around. I wish Metallica was christian. Them and Nirvana were my favorite bands until I got saved.

I apologize, alot of those have some screaming in them. However most aren't comeplete screamo. It's hard to find anything to compare to Skillet, because Skillet is so uniquely awesome. Those above are just a few of the bands I've been listening to recently.

I don't think anybody has mentioned The Showdown. There newest album is really great!

Also, Disciple is really good.

Manimal,
I'm all about the old school Christian metal! Love Stryper, Seventh Angel, Detritus, Tourniquet, Neon Cross, Bride... And what was that band the Jimmy P Brown headed? I forget the name, but I loved them!

Hawk nelson is great! (Yelling on a few songs but not screaming!)

Stryper is definitely around and so is lead singer, Michael Sweet. Check them out on myspace.

POD is comparable to Linkin Park's style...

I think you'll like Kutless...

Try Neon Horse. Thousand Foot Krutch's "Set It Off" and "Phenomenon" sound like Linkin Park, so does PAX 217.

The only "rock song" I like right now is Kutless' version of Word of God Speak since I don't like Bart's voice. (MercyMe) LOVE that song. Strong and pure...lol

Stellar Kart? No way! I mean they might "scream" once in awhile during a song but they aren't a "screamo" band at all. Like some of these other "Christian" bands.

Yes, Dave has been a Christian since '03, if I'm not mistaken. Megadeth are the greatest heavy metal band to ever walk the earth!!!!

And yeah, what pmosh said about The Showdown. If you want real, true heavy metal that's from Christians, they are the way to go. I'm seein' them for the 3rd time this weekend I CANNOT WAIT!!!!

Oh yeah I forgot Falling Up. They remind me of Linkin Park's "Papercut" song. Both are good bands.
