We play music with dinner most nights at our home. I was curious if others did that too and if so what are your favorites. I have an acoustic hymns CD and an instrumental hymns also. Tonight Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass are playing. We also like John Denver and the soundtrack from Oh Brother Where Art Thou?. Anyone else listen as they dine?

Every night (and at lunch) for the last week and a half we've listened to our daughter's Veggie Tales CD.

It does seem like background music gets conversations flowing a little better.

when we have company over, we almost always have dinner music. Holidays, always. Regular Tuesday, Wednesday, etc... dinner... sadly the TV is usually on. IT is a habit I'd like to break, but haven't ever gotten there...

If I have music on from making dinner often I'll leave it on. Usually it's on shuffle though.

Lately the boys have been enjoying Sufjan Steven's Seven Swans album so they'll play their favorite song (He woke me up again) over and over until I'm forced to turn the whole thing off.

I think this is a great idea! If I ever get married, this would be something I would want to do.

For me, anything instrumental... especially flute & guitar. Or something jazzy.

I have a problem hearing what people say sometimes when there's background noise (even if it's quiet) so I'd have to be careful about what was being played if I had friends over and did this. It's a nice idea though.
