I'm not finding any how-tos online...perhaps that's not even the word. Some way to take and organic thing, and be able to have it last, glue onto stuff, etc.

Well, no, not exactly. I had the wrong word. Shellacing would suffice, as well. Something to make organic things, like, um, bacon, inorganic and glue-able.
