Did anyone get the email about Joe Biden leaving the election next month? There's supposedly a ploy to have Joe Biden leave the election the first week of October w/ an aneurysm & Hillary taking his spot. I haven't checked snopes about it, but was curious about your thoughts if it sounded real to you. The plan is to get the email heavily circulated in hopes of getting the plan squashed. kd

I've thought Biden's leaving the campaign was a possibility ever since Mrs. Palin was chosen. He's become a drag on Obama's hopes now.

I got this email awhile back too and think it is just a conspiracy theory. Whenever Barack did not pick Hillary, some said he was too cocky or arrogant to think he didn't need her, and after McCain picked Palin, well maybe his camp is thinking twice about it.

I don't think it will come to fruition, but it is an interesting idea because a Barack/Hillary ticket would be tough to beat. Then again, Palin exited the republicans like Barack exited the dems...

That just seems like a lose/lose for Obama.

He already loses with J-Bi then , if he picks someone else it shows he can't pick a VP opening decision scrutiny.

If it did happen it would reveal that Hillary actually has a power that is somewhere on the level of a Darth Vader though. Then the question would be, who's the master and whose the apprentice?

I agree too. I think this is wishful thinking on the part of some Hillary supporters. Obama himself probably wishes he could have a do-over but he's stuck with Biden.

Who would be a better choice? ... Maxine Waters?

How about Bill Richardson? Or Wes Clark or Janet Napolitano?

The way things stand now, this is a stunt the Obama camp doesn't need. The economic crisis has tipped things in his favor. He's ahead in the polls again, and other polls show the public is laying the blame for the meltdown at the Republicans' feet by a margin of 2-1. The mantra of a "bailout for billionaires" is stoking that anger, and Congressional Democrats are being hailed as heroes by some for insisting on mortgage help for homeowners as part of the bailout.

Unless something extraordinary happens in the next few weeks, it is likely the economic mess will usher Obama into office. He's not going to want to upset the apple cart at this point by throwing Biden overboard.

Besides, he's thrown everyone else under the bus already.

Larry Elder considered that possibility when Biden said Hillary was well qualified to be VP and may have been an even better pick than him.

Mortgage help for homeowers could make matters worse by making a complex problem even more complex, and doubling the size of the financial responsibilty the country and American people will be taking on.

As far as Biden is concerned, a change in the Democratic Party ticket could only make Obama and the Democratic party look bad.
