Appreciate it. It's hard to explain it to the kids, one is old enough to get it.

Our old cat died several years ago. It was so very hard on all of us. I'm sorry for your loss.

So sorry. It's tough on the whole family.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this...

One thing our family does after we lose a beloved pet (a few years ago we lost our dear cat of 15 years) is that we'd talk about the good, goofy, and silly things she did. Helping to remember the good stuff would put a smile on our face.

Maybe that will help your kids. We still talk about our dog we had when I was in high school that we lost to cancer- and that was um...YEARS ago.

Having to make that decision is the hardest thing to do. We've had to make that choice way too many times. We have ferrets among our animal family and they are prone to many health issues. There have been very few who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge on their own. It never gets easier but knowing that it is a gentle way to move on helps a great deal. My heart goes out to you and your family.
