This seemed like a good place for this question:

I hate to cook, so cooking items do not excite me whatsoever!! My mom loves cooking, baking, and all things kitchen... I would like to get her something for Mother's Day that she would really like and enjoy using in the kitchen but I don't even know where to begin...Something unique that she would like but wouldn't necessarily buy for herself. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Not knowing what your mom has, it would be tough to say what would be useful to her. Also, don't know your budget.

You could consider a gift certificate to Pampered Chef or other cooking specialty store.

I love my counter-top mixer and the juicer, but I like to bake breads and cheesecake, and use the juicer with the berries we pick for syrup and jelly.

How about a set of faux jewelery from Walmart or any other department store (necklace and earrings) which is quite reasonable and would look quite gorgeous and bring a smile to her face?

Thanks...maybe I'll pick her brain to see if there is anything she is wanting...I also like the cooking specialty store idea; then she could have fun choosing!

My first thought is an orchid. These cost about 35 or 40 dollars. These are a bit expensive and people hesitate to buy them for themselves, but as a gift they are lovely. Orchid flowers last about 2 months so your Mom would certainly enjoy them for a good long time, longer than a cut flower bouquet.

The trick to orchids is that you treat them like cactus. Just water a little bit once in a while. They don't want their roots to be too wet. After the flower is gone, it is possibel to keep it alive until it can flower again next year but that takes some research. Most people just throw them away and get a new one later on.

Yes, I know you were talking about cooking and kitchen stuff, but she can keep the orchid in the kitchen, OK?
