My BIL is turning 65 in June and I have no idea what to get him. I did a search and came up empty. Also, whatever I get has to be mailed as I am not attending the party.
I usually get him a card but want a gift for his particular birthday. Have any of you gotten gifts that you really liked? HELP!

When my Dad turned 65, my brother and I didn't know what to do either... what do you give someone who has everything. Golf stuff is so personal, you can't really buy for someone else. We finially hit on the answer, a fishing trip with his 2 sons! Growing up, he always enjoyed taking us for short salt water fishing trips. But we have never gone stripper fishing in the largest fresh water lake in our area. So my brother and I booked a guide service for a day of stripper fishing, split the cost, and the guide printed out a nice looking gift certificate. It was a blast, throughly enjoyed it. He didn't care about taking any fish home, but did care about a day out fishing with his sons like the good ole' days.

What a great idea and I know he would love it. I will have to do a search for places to fish in his area (Boston) and see what I come up with. Thanks for the suggestion.

From my own experience, I'd rather NOT get anything. If I want it or need it, I won't wait until a birthday or holiday. I look for a deal and buy it when off season. So rather than blowing $$$ on something I don't want, I'd rather be taken on a trip or have a day off with no worries to spend with my family. A trip planned and managed by someone else, a day out with all the meals planned and prepared, or a night out to a 5 star restaurant with no little kids.

I love it, it sounds like what I would want for my own birthday.
