Why doesn't God control mother nature? On the news, you always hear about radical weather killing harmless people....Where is God in all of that? Thanks

God created all of nature (there is no "mother" qualifier, dm688!), so He obviously has control over all of it as well. God chooses to allow the laws of nature to operate in amazingly consistent ways almost all the time. Since the Original Sin of Adam and Eve, things like death, destruction, and catastrophic calamities occur in our fallen world. Rarely, God may intervene and who knows if perhaps He protects unknown numbers of people every day in His Infinite Mercy. BTW, I would certainly not call most people harmless!

The words "Mother Nature" is a man-made terminology. There is no such thing as "Mother Nature." I believe God controls the (winds, rain, thunder, lightening, tornadoes, hurricanes, droughts, etc.). I also believe God is Soveriegn over our entire planet and the universe.

Thanks for your posts, I agree with both of you. I was just wondering why we have different intense weather. What kind of message does God convey when drastic weather occurs. Could it be simply to gain or keep our attention focused on Him?
