Dh has been at his old job for 11 years so I honestly don't remember how this works. He's resigned from this company - hallelujah! His last day is a week from Friday and he'll start the new job the following Tuesday (after Memorial Day). Before he got this new job, I actually had appointments for physicals for the kids on that Tuesday. Do I need to change that appointment?

I can try to move the appointment up to next week - the last week of school so it'll be crazy but hopefully I can squeeze it in. Dd has also been complaining about her tummy for a couple of weeks, off and on, it's really weird and I'd like to get her in.

But, with the new job, will there be a waiting period or anything on their insurance? I'm not at all comfortable with going 30 or 60 days or something without insurance on the kids. How does that work when you change jobs?

Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks!

It all depends on the company. Most have waiting periods but one job I had did not. If you can afford the COBRA then you can carry over your health insurance coverage.

Also most companies keep your health insurance til the last day of the month that you are employed, but double check to make sure.

You need to ask the new company what its waiting period is for insurance. You will also need to determine if your doctor(s) are on the new plan ... and find out about deductibles, copays, etc.

You can pay for COBRA coverage, but be prepared ... it can be very pricey.
