I am new here,

And just thought I would say hi, I don't have time right now to read much, maybe I will get to do that later on this week.

Hope you all have a great day, this looks like an interesting forum.

Oh, and about me I am married, have been most of my life, well really just twenty years going on twenty one.

We have four living children our oldest child was killed last May due to a hit and run driver, now our next oldest is in the military, he left for basic training today, then we have three younger children. We have also lost several babies to miscarriage, two were in the second trimester. So we have several children in heaven.

I have to go now so I'll talk to you all another time okay.

It's nice to meet you all by the way.

Welcome! I'm sorry for your losses, and like others, I am grateful for your son. Hopefully in the near future we'll get a president that pulls America out of Iraq. But regardless, your son is very brave and commendable for his time and effort. *hugs*! :)

Welcome to CrossDaily, AnnaBee7, I hope you find when you're looking for in the community here.

BeachLover99, I like your signature. Reminds me of the sentiment I had when I thought life was open to people who had simple wishes like that. To vixir I feel a desire to point out that American military movements cannot be dictated by a single person (and I'm tired of people pointing at the president because that position's a convenient blame magnet when it's congress that controls war, funding, and the economy), and the best course of action might not be immediate withdrawl of forces from Iraq just because it's a hostile area (although to be complete and honest I will state that I believe enough mistakes have been made stretching back before 1991 that almost no further good can be done by remaining there and America should begin pulling out and acknowledging to itself that it isn't the police of the world however powerful it is economically and militarily).

I'm sorry that you disagree with me. But I strongly believe that the president is more to blame than anyone else.

Hi Ganheim: I am glad you like my signature. I LOVE quotations; I will probably change it up from time to time. However, this one really 'speaks' to me...

Well, I've thrown in my two cents, vixir. I'll bet we'll be discussing more after I start branching out into more of the forums, and I bet they'll be fun discussions.

I like quotes too, back when I was on night shift I'd spend long stretches of time trying to look up original sources for various quotes. One that I've liked for a while but never been able to find a source for is:

Of all the words
Written by men,
These saddest are:
What might have been?

No wonder you can't find a source for that quote; I didn't realize there are so many variations of it:
> In all the words of tongue and pen...
> Of all the words of mice and men...
> Of all sad words of tongue and pen...

There are probably more. Which one is the original quote? I find this very interesting!

That's one of the things that makes looking for quote sources interesting - if sometimes frustrating and sometimes impossible. Sometimes it's like translating into a whole different language - which I also find fun. Most of the time.

I like the "version" you quoted the best; it does make you think, doesn't it??

It does indeed - that's probably why it's the one I remember.

There was another one I had on my fan fiction site profile up until recently, but I can't remember it anymore and I can't find it on Dogpile or Google. Oh well.

God bless.
