Assume that Obama is all the evil, wicked, mean and nasty things some of you say he is and he won't be president. And I'll assume that none of your hateful feelings have anything to do with his race. So my question is, can any of you think of ANY black person alive today, other than Obama, who is worthy, qualified and electable? For the record, my answer is no. -Julius

Colin Powell, Dr. Rice, the late EV Hill if he were here, and I am sure many, many, more as many black are worthy as white. It really is not race with Obama with me, it is his polocies, I am a conservative, and do not like Hillary either. I do not know if you believe me or not, but, the Lord knows my heart.

I personally like Colin Powell and Condaleeza Rice. I would vote for either of them. I think they're both worthy and highly qualified. I can't speak to their electability because that tends to be more a matter of how much dirt the news media is able to make up or dig up on a person. It's hard to tell that before they try running. Granted I would vote for Obama over Hillary (were I a Democrat) and would have voted for Obama over Juliani had that come out (primarily because I believe if the Republican party decides that being pro-choice is okay for a presidential candidate it will be all downhill from there in what I consider to be an extremely important issue).

Obama isn't black. He's mixed race, half white, half black. That's a bad question. It's like asking if there is any black person capable of doing my heart surgery. The color of the surgeon's skin should have nothing to do with selecting one.

Thomas Sowell, Michael Steele, Condoleeza Rice, JC Watts, and Alan Keyes certainly have qualities that are desirable in a Presidential candidate.

I'd vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat. He's proven himself time and time again as a strong, fair, smart leader. I'm sure there is a long list other qualified potential presidents of African American descent. For me to vote for them is a matter of issues and character -- which has nothing to do with race.

I'm not sure if I find this question insulting or just inane. Did the OP really think we'd all say, "Nope, them there black people just shouldn't be president" - even if there were one (and there are many) more intelligent and infinitely more qualified than BHO. It's this tunnel vision of people who almost seem to be hypnotized by this man that baffles me. How anyone can think people object to Obama because of his race, when there are so many real, glaring reasons to be very afraid of this man, is beyond me.

Is any white person worthy to be President? Is any person of any race worthy in this day of extreme polarization?

My above post is a legitimate question. I was actually discussing this with some friends: Is there any person so beloved by Americans that they could easily be elected, regardless of their politics? I thought about this after watching "Air Force One" and realizing that the time of someone becoming President just because they were a "war hero" has passed.

From a non-political view: Tony Dungy or Lovie Smith. Take the talent needed to lead and motivate a football team and use it to lead and motivate a country.

No. Every politician is either a satan-worshipping commie or a warmongering fascist. They all want to take away everyone's guns and raise taxes to 90% or go to war with Iran and export jobs to China. That's why I'm running my cat for President. Unfortunately, he's more of the satan-worshipping Communist type, but I still think that Chairman Meow would be a better president than most other commies or fascist warmongers.

Okay, I'll apologize for the hateful, but If you reread my post, you'll see I never called anyone BUT Obama "evil, wicked, mean and nasty" and I'm sure you have no problem with that. But I won't nitpick. How bout, "assuming everything TomTurn said about him is true..." No,no the word assumes implies what you wrote could possibly not be true. Okay, how bout changing my first sentence to, "Since everything TomTurn said about Obama is true and therefore he won't win the presidency." That better? - Julius

Both nice people, but I believe unelectable. - Julius

Sowell and Steele aren't qualified based on experience. I've already talked about Rice. Watts is a possibility, but he's too low key. Keyes? He's run twice that I know of, was declared the winner of every debate he participated in, but in the end, was declared "unelectable." - Julius

How anyone can think people object to Obama because of his race, when there are so many real, glaring reasons to be very afraid of this man, is beyond me. If you don't want to participate in the discussion, don't. If you look back, I was one of the first to acknowledge (before people started tripping over his middle name, his preacher, etc.) that Obama was simply unqualified to be President based on experience and I thought at the time he would lose the nomination to Clinton, but if he didn't, McCain would trounce him. While you say you don't understand why people are "hypnotized" as you say, by him, I've been saying all the time, "Get real". People are panicking like this guy actually has a chance in the general election. People are digging for all kinds of ammo that they really don't need. If you just listen to him you'll see he doesn't have a clue and I, for the life of me, would like to know who told him he's qualified to be president. That being said, I still think some of the attacks on him have gone beyond ridiculous, but that's just me. Anyway, the discussion here is, assuming, as I am, that Obama is done, one way or another, by the end of the year, is there another person of color who could run for and win the presidency. Someone without Obama's baggage. Again, I'm not trying to imply that race is an important issue. I'm just asking. - Julius

Maybe Obama fans should watch that season of "24".
