The July Singing News is out....Maybe it will be online today. Mike & Kelley Bowling captured the front page. There is a great article on Driven also in this edition.

I didn't spend very much time looking at it last night. Know there was a feature on Driven and several articles about Dottie Rambo.

We need to tell the guys at Singing News that if they really want the digital download thing to work, we've GOT to be able to download the issues before people get the printed copies through the mail!

What do y'all think? Am I the only one that feels that way?

No, you're not. I think it makes sense that issues should be made available for download by subscribers BEFORE the printed copies come out. Otherwise, why bother with the digital version?

I did not receive my copy in the mail. Karen Peck had them on her product table last night.

But still the online version should be available first, I'm not sure I will renew the printed version when my sub runs out this time.

Nothing against the online version, but why should it be received first. After all the years people have supported the SN subscription they become 2nd class???? Not arguing, just stating an opinion. Some folks don't have internet service, believe it or not.

My reason for subscribing to anything online versus a printed edition is to receive it sooner. Better yet they could probably afford to send it out Fedex next day air lol

I do alot of things via the internet now, but when it comes to my Singing News, I still want hardcopy. Not sure when or if this will ever change for me, but that's how it stands for now.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%. I will stick with the printed version as long as they keep printing it, but after that, i guess i will have no choice in the matter.

I honestly wonder how long before they do stop printing a version since Salem already stopped with CCM.

I never look at it on-line. I prefer the actual copy that comes in the mail. That way, you can take your time while going through it and can take it with you wherever you go because you might not always have access to the internet, even if you happen to have a laptop.

A bunch of people like to collect the SN magazine. I know Roger Bennett did.

If they ever do stop the printed version, this is one customer they will lose for good.

Well, i would be sad if they did. I probalby would still subscribe to the new format, but i would not like it as much as the printed magazine.

What can I say? I'm a traditionalist about some things, and magazines are one of those things.

I see the July issue isn't on the main page yet. I would agree that they should put it up on the day they said they would, which was the 15th. Of course, that was on Sunday this month, but I would have expected it to be posted today (Mon, June 16th) at the latest.

I don't think it matters whether it's up before or after the print copy arrives. It should be up by the 15th on a work day, or the first work day thereafter.

Sorry David...I didn't think any one had read it yet, so I edited so I wouldn't be wrong this time! :-)

But you're right...I will be wrong again! :-)

I have an idea. Why doesn't Singing News poll their readers and see which version they prefer? Or possibly make your subscription an either/or type of thing? You either subscribe to the printed version or you subscribe to the on-line version, not both.

Can you tell that I really really really really really don't want the printed version to go away?

But if you order the printed version, you will also get the online version too!

But I don't want the on-line version! It does nothing for me.

I'm like you to an extent, Jeff. I really hate reading PDF files on a screen. I'd rather flip physical pages and hold a book in my hand. You can't "fan" through a PDF file...maybe Adobe should figure out a way for us to do that.

When the online version is available a couple of weeks before my print copy arrives, though, I have this overwhelming desire to look at it anyway. As a result, I hardly look at the print copy when it finally shows up.
