I created this new thread out of inspiration from the book I read called "Knowing GOD" by J.I. Packer. What is knowing God? It is to have a relationship with God on a personal level. In other words, you must know God and God must know you, it has to be a two way relationship in order for this to work. It is great that you go to church, maybe some of you attend bible study or serve on church staff. It is great that we have Christian friends and come here on Crosswalk. But all this is in vain, if you do not know God yourself. Do you fellowship with God? Fellowship with God through prayer and scripture reading is absolutely imperative. I don't know how anyone can be a Christian without having fellowship with God. That doesn't make any sense to me. I'm not talking about praying to God right before a meal, I am talking about one-on-one fellowship with God. Going into your room and getting down on your knees and praying directly to God. This is fellowship with God. Then afterwards, reading your bible to recieve His words with a humble heart. Any comments or questions, please feel free to discuss. Thanks.

The word "know' in scripture is also used to describe sexual intimacy between man and wife. This is no accident. Earthly sexual union is a copy of our union with God which is why God values it so highly. As John 14;20 explains, knowing God is when he is in us and we are in him. We become One as male and female become one flesh.

Carico, Yes, I agree. Knowing God = Immanence of God Immanence has to do with the closeness of relationship, the special aspect of this relationship produces unity or a point of identity. Therefore, immanence of God would literally mean God in man.
