Media Flocks to Gore Speech on Energy; Mostly Ignore His Use of Gas-Guzzlers to Get There

quote:

In Washington D.C. Thursday to deliver yet another speech warning Americans about global warming caused, Gore believes, by excessive use of fossil fuels, Gore handed yet more evidence to critics who believe he's a hypocrite.

He did so by traveling to his speech in what almost certainly was an unnecessary entourage of three luxury gas-guzzling vehicles -- two Lincoln Town Cars and a Surburban SUV -- one of which was kept idling outside for twenty minutes, apparently to keep the interior cool for the driver, Mrs. Gore and the Gores' adult daughter.

We know this because the free-market group Americans for Prosperity took a video camera to speech to film not only the Gore family's vehicle choices, but to interview Gore acolytes who declined sponsors' advice to walk, ride a bike or take public transportation to the speech. (You can see the group's very funny four-minute video online here -- my favorite part is the woman who tries to claim a taxi is public transportation.)

Yeah, like when McCain goes for a fozen custard in St. Louis and arrives in SUVs with a police escort.

Any vehicle a President, VP, present or past, will ride in will always be a gas guzzler. Unfortunately, the cars they ride in sometimes are also heavily armored and with heavier, bulletproof glass cutting down their MPG even more.

So, I won't fault Gore or McCain. Now Gore's supporters are a different story.....

Well they were driving their gas guzzlers and they do not have the excuse of a security entourage.

If it'll make you feel any better, I am sure there are plenty of McCain supporters who drive gas guzzlers too!

I drive one! A Nissan Quest that gets a mere 18mpg average. Good thing I don't have a long commute. I only fill up once a week!

I for one don't care what his excuse is, he preaches to the world that we should all give up our SUVs then drives around in a motorcade.

Come on, people, details, sources. When and where did he tell everyone do get rid of their SUV? I want to see for myself.

I know it's "An Incovenient Truth" for you to swallow but that is one of the major cornerstones of the GW movement - being against fossil fuel burning vehicles!

I don't think that makes him any less of a hypocrite. In my opinion, if he were a true activist, he would walk his talk.

We all choose the hypocricies we wish to embrace. Some embrace bigger ones than others.

I want to know where I can see this in print, right from the horses mouth, and I'm too lazy to start googling since someone else appears to already know, so please give a link, or links.

But isn't the Liberal's motto, "Do as I say, not as I do"?

I think I've heard that said before. I guess it doesn't really change the situation at all, though does it?

Well it's either that or "Not in my backyard."

the guy is a bold-faced liar. at the dem's convention he brought all the weak-willed women to tears with the story of his sister's death from lung cancer saying that he would fight big tobacco to the bitter end. He didn't mention that he was a heavy smoker and owned substantial interest in a major tobacco company.

When he was running for Senate in Tenn, he told the tobacco farmers that as a youth he had done hard work in the tobacco fields. (Pst, Al, there are no tobacco fields in D.C. where your daddy was a senator)

He is an accomplished liar as his move "An Inconvient Truth" is a collection of lies.

You already received some links. I suppose what you would expect though is for one of us to summon Al Gore to your home to personally inform you of his beliefs, but since that can not happen I guess you're just going to have to keep denying the obvious. That's fine.

And if you are too lazy to google, maybe some of that can rub off on your ability to post, eh?

The second link states the former Vice President Al Gore "has tried everything over the decades to mobilize people to agressively curb emissions of greenhouse gases". He promotes the agenda. To say he doesn't think then that SUV's aren't part of the problem is as ludicrous as saying that when some professes Christianity that they don't believe in the Jesus!

Lots of people support the agenda in Hollywood too, yet their carbon foot print resembles a small town... Muck like Al Gore's... Anyone that looks up to Al Gore as some Environmental Messiah probably thought the X-Files was a documentary…
