I know this should probally be posted in a different place, not sure. However, I wanted to get this out and get some prayers going for this. My father, Stanley Lee, has been having some serious problems with his left leg for over two years. A sore came up on his calf on that leg, and wouldnt heal, and it grew larger. Its to the point you can see inside the leg. Several doctors have worked on his leg, doing surgery and others methods to try to heal it. None of those have worked. He has spent many miles on the road to the doctors, and had many surgery's on the leg, I have actually lost count of the number. They have tried everything they can think of to help. But now its to the point the of amputating the leg around the knee. The doctors have told him its either take the leg, or he get serious infection and lose his life. He has already had staf infection many times in the leg as it is. He has been really depressed as of late since they told him he would lose the leg. And its been to the point of him even mentioning giving up. My father has been through alot over the years, too much to really list here, and he is tired, and weary. And the doctors are afriad with the shape he is in, that he may never want to get back up after surgery. And he has it in his head, that he cant do much once they take the leg, like, he will never be able to walk, or anything. I have tried many times to talk with him, and encourage him, but, nothing has seemed to work. I come here today with a heavy heart, asking please, spread the word, and lets get as many people praying as we can. Your Churchs, your friends, just anyone who will pray for him. Its sad to see what he has already been through, and now seeing him in the shape he is in, its tearing my heart to peices. I am trying to remain strong for him and my family, and its hard to do. Hes been tough for so long, that I am not sure how much more he can under take. He currently goes every day to take IV fluids and antibotics, been going once a week for months to see the doctor, and is set up to go Monday afternoon To Birmingham, AL to see the specilist about setting up the surgery and all to remove the leg. But my concern is more in the fact I am afraid he will just give up, and not try to fight anymore. About 5 years ago he lost his younger brother to a battle with cancer and ever since dad has been going down hill, and now more than ever. He and his brother were very close, were in the Rescue Squad together, fished together alot, done many many things together, and hes been heart broken since, and then when this came up, it was more trying to him and he seems like he is loseing the will to go on. So please, pray for him, and my family, as we face this rough road, and pray for God to step in, and place his hand and help my father. And if anyone knows of anything I can say to help or anyone who would be willing to talk with him, please, let me know. We need all the prayers and help we can right now. Thanks everyone and God Bless All!!

familyharmony1: I recently went through a difficult and similar experience with my father and can identify with how you feel. My Dad pased away two weeks ago. I have the satisfaction of knowing that he is with our Lord. You did not say if your father is saved, but I pray that he is. If not, I pray that he will be. If I understand your post correctly, it seems that your father's emotional/mental state may be more difficult to deal with than the physical. He may benefit from professional help. It is no shame to get it, and his medical doctor may be able to make a recommendation. I will be praying for him, you and your family. Please post further to let us know of his progress.

They are doing surgery on him May 23 in Birmingham,Al. The doctors said they will have him walking before he leaves the hospital, which I hope is the case. He is still not in the best state of mind, and still depressed about everything. Its going to be a long road for him I know, i guess for all of us it will be. But, hes hanging in, and he is trying to get in a better mood, so I hope he can. I appericate everyone praying for him, and I will keep you all up to date with his progress as much as I can. I am have surgery monday the 19th so it may be difficult to get online at times, but I will do the best I can. Mine is not near as bad as his, and I am a little nervous, but not too bad. They are having to put a grapht of bone and muscle into a hole in my knee. They said I will spend one night in the hospital, and then be home, but cant walk or put any weight on the leg for six weeks. so be praying for that as well. Thanks everyone!!

I will pray for your Father and his care givers. There is a machine, Anodyne that can be used to increase the blood flow to promote healing. The physicial therapists use it to heal lots of things. Perhaps one of the doctors would write a prescription and a physicial therapist would do the work. You can check out their website and they can find one in your area. If there is any healing prior to surgery it would be valuable. Love and Prayers to you, your Father and your family

Hey everyone. I am typing this in a lot of pain, so please over look if any words or mis spelled or anything. I had my surgery monday, the surgery went good, when I woke up I was in more pain than I expected and than I have ever been in before. And I was freezeing cold. They had to wrap warm blankets around my head, and had about 5 warm blankets on top of me to warm me up. They ended up keeping me for the night, and during the night my kidneys quit working twice and they had to put a cathater in me twice. I was hurting so bad from them stopping espically the second time it shot my blood pressure sky high, but they got it back down and under control. I came home tuesday around lunch, with only two hours sleep, tryed to get some more sleep, however the weather here played against me, as a small tornado came through my county yesterday afternoon, leaveing some damage, but no injuries or deaths. But some very shaky nerves. But anyway. My fathers surgery is set for friday, they will call tomorrow and let us know a time for him to be there, they will be removing the leg just below the left knee. Hes getting into a better state of mind, and not dreading the surgery as bad. I thank everyone for they're prayers, and hope you will continue them, thank you so much for everything!!! God Bless, Mike

I'm sorry you and your dad are going through such painful health conditions; the emotional pain probably feels just as heavy. I'll be praying for healing, peace and rest for both of you... Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

I didnt want to mention my surgery as much as my fathers because I wanted more prayers for him than me. He has been in alot rougher shape than me, and I thought it was more important than me. have now developed a fever I cant seem to shake, and I have to be taken back to the doctor tomorrow due to it. The leg they did surgery on is very hot to the touch and my temp wont break even with meds. So they are going to take all the bandages off tomorrow and check for the possibilities of infection. And I cant control the use of my leg my wife has to lift it up on to the bed, help me roll over, and stuff I normally could do on my own. I feel kinda helpless. But I will keep everyone posted on my recovery as it unfolds, and my dads surgery and his recovery. I already know I cant walk for at least six weeks, so I have a long six weeks ahead of me, so, we will just see. So far the pain meds are helping much either, so sleep, and getting relief arent coming easy for me. Just please continue to remember us in prayer. God Bless You All! Mike

UPDATE:Today is dad's surgery date. I talked with mom about an hour ago, and they were still in an holding room, waiting to go back to the operating room. Hes been in good spirits todays, nervous of course, but good spirits. I wasnt able to go due to my surgery and my pain with riding in vechiles and not needing to be in a hospital around infections. Late Last night Me, My Wife, Mom and Dad, sat and talked and had a nice prayer session. We all talked about the surgery and how everything would go, and made some agreements of somethings to do after he gets well, so I know hes in a better frame of mind about the surgery now. UPDATE IN MYSELF: I went back to my doctor yesterday due to the fack I have been running a fever I cant seem to break and they were afraid I might be developing some infection. So the took all the dressings off, I have all staples in the knee, but there are no signs of infection, no redness or heat around the wound, no severe drainage, but they went ahead and put me on some antibotics to be safe, and make sure. But they think the fever is just where the blood is releaseing from the swelleing areas and causeing my temp to go up. But everything is looking good. I still have a long road to go, but they think everything will be fine. It will be on into July before I will be able to start walking again but I can live with that. I will keep you all posted on dad today as we hear more from Birmingham. Thanks Everyone. Mike

NEW UPDATE: They finally got dad in the OR at around 3:30pm this afternoon the surgery took them about two and a half hours to three hours to do. He came through the surgery great. The doctors said they were able to save more of the leg than they originally thought they could, in my opinon, the hand of the Lord Working. They had him in a room late this evening as I was talking with my grandfather, and I was able to hear him in the back gorund, but I didnt speak with him personally today. But everything is looking good for now. They are going to keep him a couple days at least, so they can get his pain under control before they let him come home. This is great news to me. I still hate the fact they had to take the leg, but at least he has his life, and will still be able to get around. Thanks everyone for your prayers, and I will keep you posted throughout the next few days with his process.

Hey Folks. Got to Talk with dad for a bit, he is in a good deal of pain, but in good spirits. The down side to all this is, they arent letting him come home until they can get his pain under control and get his meds working. As of this afternoon there was none such luck. They havent been able to get any of the pain meds to really kick in and work, and thats frustrating dad somewhat. They are trying several different kinds and yet arent working. But they have had him up walking today, and moving around, so even with the bad news there is good news to all this. We are just all praying and hopeing now they can get the meds to working and get him relief from the pain, and then finally get him back home. SO thats the update for now. I will keep you posted. Thanks everyone..

Hey Everyone. Have a Very Good NEws Update. Dads meds have been working good the last day or so, and I just got off the phone with phone, and they will be on thier way home shortly. Yes, thankfully, dad is coming home today. He has been doing good with physical therapy and getting up and around, and the meds have been easeing the pain, so they are letting him come on home. So we are very thankful. Of course he still has a long way to go adjusting to the leg being gone, then getting the prostetic leg and getting adjusted to it, so still a long road, but its looking good. We thank everyone for their prayers, and we hope you will continue to do so as this journey isnt complete yet. We have just complete another step. Now as far as myself. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to have my staples removed and a re check on the knee. I have little use of the leg currently. I cant even lift it to get in bed, my wife has to do that, I would be lost without her, she is a true God send. She has went way beyond the call of a wife. I have to depend on her for fixen my food, drinks, assiting me with getting dressed, getting into bed, sometimes even getting up off the couch. I have no strength in the knee to lift my leg. I know I probally shouldnt feel like this, but I feel so helpless, and and bad that I cant help her do things and cant do things for myself. But anyway. I hope soon to regain the strength in the leg, but I know it will take time. So please continue to pray for me as well. Thanks everyone.
