I saw for the first time this DVD last night, and was absolutley blown away by those guys. That lineup is one of the best quartets I've heard in a long time. I really wish they were still together. I liked it all, but I'd have to say that the hilight of the concert was hearing Steve sing the 2nd verse of "Just A Little Talk With Jesus" For a "wanna-be-but-not-able-to- tenor singer" like me, the power in his voice and the controll he has, even at the heights of his range is absolutley captivating. All I can say is that Gold City made a VERY wise choice picking him to fill the tenor spot. So as for the others, Brian Elliot is still with The Anchormen, David Hester is with The Dove Brothers. Where did the lead Dwayne (or is it DeWayne??) Copridge and baritone Chad Smith end up? Are they still singing?

As far as where Chad Smith is, he sings baritone with Driven Quartet now.

"Nothing Less Than All" is arguably the best album the Anchormen ever produced.

He was with Palmetto State for a while until that iteration of the group disbanded.

Steve's enounciation has markedly improved in his years on the road. He's getting better and better. Just compare the recording of "Giver Of Life" to "Preach The Word". I just wish that Gold City could go with a full live band again, and pull out more classic quartet music. I've heard from others that Steve is one of the best tenors to ever sing "Looking For A City". quote:

I agree that this was by far the best album ever recorded by the Anchormen, and I will also say that this was my favorite line-up of the group. I hated when David Hester left to go with the Dove Brothers but I guess the fit was better for his style. I also hated when Dwayne left. I had the opportunity to audition for his spot when he was leaving and I asked him if he was crazy or what. Everyone knows that Steve was my favorite tenor for them. We went to church together then and when he told me that he was leaving to go to Gold City I was shocked!!! I was happy for him because I know that was his dream, but I knew we wouldn't get to hear him sing much anymore. I also agree that his voice has gotten better since singing with GC. And I also say that Steve could tear Looking for a City up. I do have to agree that Brian Free owns this song. I've seen the two of them duo this song and Brian Free hit the last note with no problems where as Steve was struggling a little...but hey, who wouldn't? lol

Also... I think that if this line-up had stayed together that they would have been the "new" Gold City. They were exciting and full of energy and could work a crowd onto their feets at will. I sure hate that the current line-up of the Anchormen isn't nearly as good as these guys were...of course this is my opinion only.

The first time I saw the anchormen live was a concert with the anchormen and brian free and assurance. The anchormen opened up for BFA ...and WOW i was blown away. The anchormen lineup was Steve, lead singer i can't remember, Chad, and David Hester on bass. That lineup really got my attention. Later in the night Steve and Brian did looking for a city...it was really great! I think they tied (and i'm a big brian free fan). I picked up the DVD and the nothing less than all cd. To this day, it is still one of my favorite southern gospel dvd's. The cd project is outstanding also!

Of course, this is just opinions, but.......... mine is that it's Dan Keeton's song. Period. Nobody can touch him on that. But of course, we must give credit where it is due. Johnny Cook was the first (at least to my knowledge) male tenor to use this song to throw his voice into the stratosphere. For sure, he started a great classic Southern Gospel tradition. quote:
