I have never used slip covers but am considering it and hopefully someone can help me. Can I please hear the pros and cons and anything else you can think of? Thanks.

Custom made slip covers are beautiful, but can be pricey. The mass produced ones are cheap but always look sloppy and never fit properly, imo. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

I got some from surefit.com and they work fine. It's in our "formal" (but nothing in my house is very formal) room and that furniture is very rarely sat on at all. Even not being used almost ever, it's a struggle to keep them tucked and in place. I've heard to put PVC pipe or rolled up magazines in the tucked places to keep it in better and I've never done that. For my sofa and loveseat that are never used, that would probably do the trick. I've had them for years but still consider the slipcovers a temporary fix until I get around to doing something else in that room. If they were on furniture that was actually used, I think they might drive you crazy if they weren't custom made and, for that expense, I think I'd just want new furniture, myself.

OK, you've all convinced me, I will not be buying slip covers. I was told to use PVC to hold the material in and those little screw in tacks that hold sheets in place and it still sounds like way too much trouble. Kat, I like the custom made but it could be pretty expensive.

I have used all kinds of slip covers. Cheap ones, pricey ones and I've also used surefit a few times since I like their designs and they're very nice as long as you don't have kids sitting on them. I've also used PVC to hold them down but I'm telling you once my teenager son and his friends sit on those sofas....forget it.
