Anyone ever tried this workout routine? I started into it, but had to pull out for various reasons. I will complete it, though! It is very basic, from the workout routines to nutrition, but it is a COMMITMENT!! I can't wait to get back into it. The workouts are tough, but the nutrition side is harder for me b/c I don't like measuring amounts of food to eat. Of course, I think ANYONE can lose weight just by doing what they KNOW...junk food is junk food, so don't buy it...go for a walk or do something active every day. Starting off w/ basics like that would help people lose weight more quickly.

I watched the infomercial at the gym, it's actually not one of the cheesy workouts that don't do anything.. it is a pretty good mix of weights, yoga and cardio. I would have ordered it if I didn't have a gym membership.

I would have ordered it if I didn't have a gym membership. Oh, it's INTENSE, alright!! This isn't just one of those corny aerobics videos. This is HARD CORE training!! Each workout is about an hour long. (Yoga is the longest...90 minutes. I hated that one. Yoga is TOUGH!! I got SO sick of "downward dog"!! It is more about stretching and balance than the meditation yoga is known for...though they do "ohms" at the end of that DVD. I just skip that part.) The whole DVD set & nutritional guide is $120, so I think it is a REALLY good deal. (Of course, they nail you w/ $40 for shipping.) You don't need to invest in machines and junk merchandise for this workout. All you need are dumbbells, a pull-up bar, and a mat. I bought some push-up bars, too, for better range-of-motion. I can't wait to get back into this, but it IS a big time-commitment. Of course, we all have to realize that ANY serious workout routine will be a time commitment. Weight-loss pills and meal plans won't cut it! (Those are money-making scams.) You can't get in shape in just 6 minutes a day! P90X is worth your while...in my opinion.

I'm not familiar with this one but if it's got some substance to it that's a nice switch from the rest of the gimmicks you see on TV. But I hate to see people spend a lot of money to get in shape!! It's not some deep hidden secret that only a few people have access to that you need to make them rich to get. It's just doing a little research and having a little determination. quote:

I'm not familiar with this system but it really shouldn't be a huge time commitment. About an hour 3x/week plus 20 minutes or so on the other days is really all it should take to do an effective program.

I have the program, it was given to me, and have to admit, it's the real deal. But, and they tell you this via the fitness test, that it's not designed for the average person to just jump into. One should somewhat "pre-condition" prior to starting it. quote:

Starting off w/ basics like that would help people lose weight more quickly. The nutrition\diet side of it all is such a mental thing. No matter how much we psych ourselves up in the beginning, it's usually some mental cracking that throws us off track. I just glanced over the nutrition stuff, so can't really comment on what it requires, but what you might do is come up with a daily menu that becomes your "foundation" (I got this idea from a friend of mine, that does it). Basically come up with a one day menu of meals and snacks that you can eat over and over. Note the caloric value of each. Than on days that you deviate from the menu, figure out which of the "foundational" meals and\or snacks, you need to remove, because it was replaced by the deviation. This way you only have to figure out the deviations, caloric value. Everyday that you just eat your foundational menu, you already know the caloric count. Get a bunch of different size containers, so that you just need to put our items in them and they're "pre-measured".

http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/best_sellers/p90x.do according to that site its 600 dollars for a 3 month program. way too much money for something way too complicated for a beginner but at least it had squats in the leg workout so it must be better than other programs

Price should be more like $140 ($39.95 for three payments plus $19.95 shipping and handling). I believe you're suppose to do their Power 90 or Slim in 6 program first, to get into shape for P90X (eXtreme). The fitness test is roughly (minimum male\female requirements): Pull-Ups (3\1) Vertical Leap (5"\3") Push-Ups (15\3) Toe Touch (within 6") Wall Squat (1 minute) Bicep Curl (10 with 20lbs\10 with 8lbs) plus an ab movement and a heart rate monitoring.

Oh, and although I have it, I haven't done the program yet. I'm still in a strength mode of training at this time. Some time in the foreseeable future (next couple years), I can see myself doing P90X. But I'd definitely need to do something prior (specialized program) to get into "fitness condition" to tackle it (the boxing and martial arts, I'm currently doing may or may not be enough).
