My entire life, I have had this really bad habit of constantly thinking about bad and and embarrassing memories. I just can't let things go. I have a very good memory, and I remember everything, and I've had a lot more bad happen to me then good, and the bad just gnaws on my mind all the time. All it does is hurt me, and turn me into a depressed, angry, and scared person with a giant chip on my shoulder. It almost made me have suicidal thoughts last August because I'm so tired of being trapped in a cage full with bad memories.

Please pray that God removes the desire to always want to think about bad things, and replaces it with good thoughts, and a desire to want to serve Him better.

If you find that you score 'likely' or 'probable' (as I suspect) I would talk to your doctor about it. (And even if you don't, talk to your doctor about how you are feeling.) Also I wanted to comment on another thread you had started awhile ago if I might, about Jesus not being historically verifiable. The new testament is a series of historical documents saved by the church. The reason some people don't take them as such is because of the miracles; of course you need to take this on faith. But what kind of God would he be who could not perform miracles? :) And there are other extra-biblical documents too showing the life of Christ, though most have been saved by believers of some sort; thus the infancy gospels and such. But most historians agree there is more evidence for the life of Jesus on earth than any other historical figure, so rest assured of this.

Lord please help Zeeboe. i pray, lord, that you would help Zeeboe to change his mind and turn it away from the dark and toward you. and Lord i pray that you would fully penetrate Zeeboe's mind and heart with your Light. please draw Zeeboe closer and closer to you and use Zeeboe powerfully as your servant and teach him how to be happy and comfortable. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

Lord Jesus please heal Zeeboe from all this stuff and all these memories. I ask in Your Name. Amen.

Zeeboe, the Lord took me through a period in life where He brought to my mind things that had happened. With each one, I was to say out loud (privately), "Father I forgive (their name) for doing (what they did)." Specifically saying the person's name and how they hurt me. He brought names and events to my mind each day for a couple of months - not every minute, but at different times in the day. For each one, I spoke out specific forgiveness.

The Lord used that to heal me. Now I look back on those things and feel no pain. I have since found out that one person had a breakdown some time after they hurt me, and now I feel really sorry for them. Can I suggest you do something similar when you think of a bad memory - even if you have to do it more than once. Every time the memory comes, speak out forgiveness about it. I believe the Lord will heal you as you keep doing this.

Father,

Please heal Zeeboe of any ailments that he may have.
Help him to have such a wonderful trust in You that he can pray to You about any negative occasions then forget them because they then are in Your hands.
Help him to truly live Phil. 4:6-8, to think about the good things and help him to control his thoughts so that the good thoughts will crowd out the bad thoughts.
Thank You for being there for us all.
Thank You for the help that You will give to Zeeboe.
Help him to recognize and accept that help.
Help him to relax and see Your good.

This will be a long post. Please accept my apology for posting such a long post in the prayer thread!

First, examine the thoughts--if there is something you need to address, to ask forgiveness for or to discuss with a brother or a sister, then follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do so. However, if your thoughts of the memories are completely unprofitable nonsense and there is nothing the Holy Spirit is prompting you to do, then you are right to rely upon the Lord to remove those thoughts and replace them with good thoughts.

Here is something you can try: memorize this verse or write it on a card and put the card in your pocket. Phil 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

Whenever your mind begins to be filled with unprofitable thoughts that hinder, remember this verse and pray that the Lord will give you something excellent and praiseworthy to think on, then immediately ponder those excellent and praiseworthy things. Use the Word as the sword that it is! (Ephesians 6:10-18) Think about what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, and surely the Lord will place something in your mind for you to ponder. Maybe excellent music? Beautiful creation? A praiseworthy friendship? A blessing? (and remember that God's Word is always a source of excellent and praiseworthy things).

You will be relying upon the Lord and His Word to retrain your brain to not fester in horrible thoughts about the past. You are removing that burden from yourself, and placing it upon the Lord. He is faithful and He can handle the thoughts in your mind. In place of those bad thoughts, you are placing God's Word and things the Lord wants you to ponder.

Hebrews 12:1-2 states: Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

If you read the chapter just before Hebrews 12, you will find many who have suffered and struggled (and sinned!) in life and yet remained faithful in Christ--they are the "great cloud of witnesses". They ran the race looking at Jesus as the finisher of their faith. The Lord knows all the sorrows of your heart and mind. Lay aside the weight of those sorrows--the memories which try to ensnare you, and practice running with endurance with great faith in Christ. This takes training, like any great runner knows, and the Lord is truly faithful to see you through this great struggle.

I pray that the Lord will help you in this battle, and if you need medical assistance also I pray the Lord will help you find excellent counsel from a Christian brother/sister. If there are more specific things you can do to address the bad memories, I pray the Lord will direct you accordingly. I pray that the Lord will help you find rest in Him!

I used to get that. I"d remember that I did something stupid and feel embarrassed all over again. Then one day,when I was reading my Kenneth Hagin Magazine, (Cause I am a heretic.) God laid upon my heart, I don't condemn you, so why are you doing it? Set me free right then and there. Now whenever the devil throws those thoughts into my mind, I just say If God doesn't condemn, why am I?

Thank you again for the prayers. The advice you guys have given me did work for a while, but I feel like the problems are coming back again. I also feel like whenever I pray, I'm ignored. I suppose that's why I am asking for you folks to always pray for me. I feel like my relationship with God is like a message board...I was banned, so He can not hear my prayers anymore..but He does hear yours. I know that's not true though. I just don't always feel better about praying, but whenever you guys pray...I feel like God is there then.

Anyway, I decided when I get back from this vacation I'm going on that I need to finally address this O. C. D. problem. It's funny, I've had this issue for so long that I learned to live with it for a while....but as I've gotten older, it's become too much for me to handle which is why I finally talked about it with you guys. I never talked about it before except with my Mother and sister, and they wouldn't realize it was O.C.D.

What's really frustrating is I spoke to my Mom about it recently and discussed wanting to get help, and even though it wouldn't effect her money at all, she wasn't that supportive of it. She was almost laughing and had a smile on her face, saying that what I've been through wasn't that bad. But how does she know that? Unless she's been where I've been and seen what I've seen and heard what I heard. It's so frustrating not to have the support of someone who you really love. I actually had to stand there and defend what I have for a little while with her, and I think she finally offered her support because she was tired of hearing me defend it. She has since gotten more of an open mind about it, but I think it's because she realizes I'm going to deal with this problem with or without her support.

First, I'm going to try acupuncture. If that doesn't work, I'm going to look into taking some type of meds. In the mean time, please pray that God heals me of this and also please pray and ask God to soften my Mother's heart some. I know she expressed an interest in wanting to try acupuncture as well, but for other reasons, and like I said...she has shown a little more support...but just yesterday she remarked that the reason why I have this is because I have too much time on my hands, and that is very true. But my lack of a social life is a whole other issue.

Dear Father, I lift up Zeeboe to You. Father, touch him and heal him. Father, You tell us to hold every thought captive. Help Zeeboe to turn every thought back to You. Everytime a bad thought comes to mind help him to see it for what it is, and replace it with a pleasent thought, Like a peaceful flowing creek, or any of Your wonders, Father. Fill him with Your peace and joy as never before. Happyness that has no earthly understanding, but just the joy that comes from being close to You and praising You. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name. Lately, anytime I think about a certain subject...I get this odd feeling in my throat, as if I'm almost choking. It's hard to describe. God is aware of the subject and the problem though. Please pray that He heals it.

There's an OCD center in my town, but it's way too pricey. I'm thinking of either trying acupuncture, faith healing, or contacting my doctor to see if he can prescribe me any med's, or recommend an affordable head doctor who could. But I'm not interested in talk therapy. It doesn't help. I need something stronger. Praying has helped, but it has sadly only been a temporary solution. I still have faith in God, and believe He will cure me.

Father, I ask that if it is within Your will, that You would heal Zeeboe from this. But if this is a burden that he must bear, that You would give him the strength and all that he needs to endure. Maybe you could talk to your pastor, to see if the church could help with the cost?

And btw, a certain type of "talk therapy" CAN help in your situation. It's called cognitive-behavioural therapy, and the focus is on helping you deal with (and change) the way you think.

Zeeboe, you are doing so good, just keep your head up and continue to have faith and trust in God. I know its hard but do not let the enemy win...I have been through that before, almost having like obsessive thoughts over and over and my head would just be in a fog. My brain would just not shut off and I couldn't stop thinking, I knew that was satan. After I went through deliverance, it was totally gone, I had a clear mind and I was thinking about absolutely nothing, oh how I couldn't beleive it!!
I ask Lord please that you heal Zeeboe completely. Please take this ocd away from them and just let them feel your love flood them. I rebuke this entire thing and satan must leave Zeeboe alone right now, IN JESUS NAME....I pray for protection and peace for Zeeboe and Lord just continue to show yourself to zeeboe, you know he has faith in you and trust you, please keep them safe and heal them completely....
