A friend in the USA wants to send me some theatre tickets via a method that includes insurance. Can anyone advise me, or point me to a website, where I can find out what she is likely to have to pay? I am buying these tickets from her, and want to pay her for the postage as well. So I am wanting the rate for an International Air Mail service, with insurance, from the US to the UK. Thanks.

It should be less than $20, regardless of what service you use. Check into possible import fees/duties, as well. She could get around that by listing it as a gift, but... -Dan.

Thanks, I couldn't remember what your mail service provider was called.

She can also insure a USPS first class international package through www.u-pic.com It's a very reputable company and shipping first class int'l would save quite a bit of money compared to the international shipping that can be insured through the postal service. Just make sure the package is not labeled as "gift" if it is not truly a gift. If so and she gets caught, there are some very hefty fines.

UPS & Fed-ex ship internationally, can be insured, and both have websites.

How fast do you need to get them? I found that when I worked for UPS, my biggest problem was getting customers packages past customs. It seemed to me that the UK was no problem in that area though.
