I just heard from Mrs. Hamill. She finally received the package yesterday with the checks from the Memorial Concert. ( I sent it 'signature requested', and she said she was at doctor's appointments all last week when the mail ran, and they had to go to the post office to get it.)
She was THRILLED with the handout -- she jokingly said we made Jim sound better than he was!! She said she asked James "Are they talking about your Daddy?"
She was very thankful for the ALL the donations they've recieved lately. She stated that they had decided to put it all toward their 2nd mortgage.
Her speech is slightly distorted from the stroke she suffered, but she was a joy to talk with. I look forward to checking on her again from time to time. Let's not forget them!! They are doing OK, but she just had another eye surgery yesterday, and wanted me to ask all of you to pray for them. She also wanted to send a "BIG HUG" to the groups who came to the singing. So...

Have you heard anything about the plans for the benifit in Pigeon Forge?

Haven't heard. Hopefully, tenorsister will be able to put something together in the coming weeks.
I think it'd be great to do AT LEAST one more sizeable campaign on their behalf.

I can just see that little woman now when she got the package. For those of you that haven't ever met Ms. Jan, she is so tiny compaired to Big Jim.
Hope tenorsister gets something going for the family in the Piegon Forge area. There are also other areas of the country where someone else could do a benefit to help the family.

I am also thrilled you guys are trying to get something going for Jan. It would be wonderful if enough was raised to completely take care of the second mortgage on their home. If we can help with anything down here in Georgia, just let us know--
Bobby, you are right on Jans size, compared to Big Jim--I remember when Jim was with The Rebels one time and Jan was there also, Jim held his arm straight out and Jan walked under it, without even ducking--Jim thought that was so funny.

Before she had the stroke she was coming to Hoofers most everytime he was there. James would bring them. They had such a good time there together.

Friday--Feb. 8th---Just heard from Mrs. Hamill ---she was checking on the condition of a mutual promotor friend of ours, Norman Bonds who recently had by-pass surgery--just like Jan, worrying about someone else--she said her recent eye surgery was a success--she had not been able to close that eye since her stroke over two years ago--now she can close it---I have notice that everytime I talk with her, her speech is getting better, and I told her so--said that made her day--she said to Thank everybody, everywhere for the prayers and donations sent to her and that she prays for everyone everyday--She is a blessing to talk with----

Just talked to 'tenorsister'. She's still planning on promoting a concert in the Pigeon Forge area in April of '08. Amy's really trying to coordinate it to where The Kingsmen can perform.
Amy and her family recently moved, so she's not been online lately. Hopes to be back online in a few days. I could tell she's excited about trying to eliminate the 2nd mortgage on Mrs. Hamill's home. It's a really obtainable goal. VERY obtainable. I hope we can all pitch in and help this 2nd concert be a huge success!! I'm sure more details will follow in the coming weeks, but I felt like she wanted ya'll to know she was still planning the concert.
