In order to curtail my off topic ramblings during y'all's threads I'll post any of that stuff (or at least most of it) here. Its a blog of sorts but I want feedback inside the blog. I'll also repost my My Space blogs here. Feedback welcome and enouraged. Here's the opening salvo, a reposted question bulletin from My Space. What was the last thing you made into a heart? uh, wha? How tall is the last person you hugged? Don't remember What color is your underwear? Brown but it didn't start that way. Do you normally sleep with clothes on? Undies and socks only, undies optional Think about the last pair of socks you wore: Black diabetic socks. They are always black diabetic socks What are you listening to right now? Last thing I listened to was Bobaflex (not to be confused with Boba Fett). Last website you went to was what? Here, duh. Before that My Space What is your favorite color ice pop? Orange What is something you wish you had more of? CDs, or free time Last time you had the butterflies, who were you thinking of? The end of civilization as we know it. Luckily Bobaflex dropped the thermal detonator. Or was that Boba Fett? Who does your MySpace top 8 consist of? Look Note: Well you probably can't look but its not really important anyway. What were you last sad about? I'm sad that my summer vacation is almost over. BOO. Who is the hottest member of the opposite sex you've seen in the last week? Holley Sinn (more to come in my blog) Has anyone ever said they would die for you? Yes, several people. Seriously, straight up, no joke. And I think a few people I know would die for me. But they aren't the ones that said it. Does it annoy you when people type like they're ghetto? Only if they are 25 or over. Do you always answer your phone? No Who do you text the most? No What did you last feel bad about? Guilt is for wussies. Are you mean? According to my students I can be. Who were the last three people to send you a message on myspace? Don't remember. Actually I quite stupidly answered "look" on My Space, confusing messages (which are private) with comments (which are public). Oh well. Do you like thunderstorms? No they scare me. Its God playing the drums of destruction. Do you like the rain? Only if I don't have to be in it! Who was the last smoker you were around? Did they smoke around you? My mom. And yes, I don't care. It's her house. Does something hurt on you right now? Strangely enough no. What time do you normally go to sleep every day? 3 or 4 in the morning. That'll have to stop soon. Do you like cheese? Only the food stuff. Last shirt you wore? Black knit shirt How many times a week do you shower? At least once a week. And always before I go out in public. Name one thing that grosses you out: Babies. Actually those that know me realize thats the opposite of my true feelings. What are you doing besides this? Nothing, I cannot multitask. Do you hate when people call you when you're sleeping? YEAH. Do you take your phone to the bathroom with you? Only when calling 900 numbers. Just joking. No I'm not.Yes I am. Thanks for reading.

For today's post I'm going to talk about an experience I had here on the forums. It happened a few months back. I was trying to think of a topic to discuss in my My Space blog and for reasons I can't remember I settled on pirated DVDs. Specifically ones where no official DVD set has been made, due to rights issues or the copyright holder deciding that releasing a DVD set and all the work that goes into it would not produce a profit (or an acceptable profit verses the cost). I staked out my position that if a copyright holder was unwilling to release these series on DVD then it was OK to find "unauthorized" DVDs of the series, as long as I purchased any official DVDs that might come out. For the record: I made clear that I don't buy bootlegs myself as there is no way to verify the quality of the product (which would probably be VHS tapes recorded to DVD-Rs) and the integrity of such an enterprise is suspect. There may be a few vendors that really want to preserve these classic TV series but I suspect most of them are in it to make a profit on something they did not create or own. You can predict the response I got. Basically that it was a form of stealing and its illegal and we as Christians are obligated to follow the laws of the land so long as they are not unjust. By the way I say a form of stealing because the respondents had enough class and sense to not equate it to breaking into someone's house and taking their stuff. There is so much more that goes along with that sort of henious crime that the loss of property is not the worst of it. And I tried to defend my position. I did everything possible to present my case. But in the final analysis I can't out debate the Bible. I think I did pretty well debate wise but I might as well been trying to convince people that the moon is made of cheese. No amount of debating skill can make the false true or wrong right. So I had to accept the fact that I was wrong. No TV series is worth breaking the law over. I thought about mentioning that in the thread but to me it would be self serving, like trying to revel in my ability and willingness to admit defeat and to display my righteousness in willingness to repent. So I just left it. But I say it now to those that I debated with that you showed me something that I was wrong about, thanks.

For this entry I'm going to go through a few famous or influential people I wish would just GO AWAY! Lets set some ground rules: I do not wish any harm on these people, I hope they live happy lives. I merely hope that I never hear from or about them again as they live their happy lives. And really, thats it. well also, its solely my opinion. If you don't agree, don't worry. Its not like anyone listens to me anyway. So here we go. Britney Spears Why do people care about someone of so little talent? And she isn't exactly a beauty queen. Other pop princeses, like Christina Agillera, can at least sing very well. Paris Hilton has no discernable talent (aside from political ads apparently) but she knows she has no talent and sticks to things she knows like reality shows where she only has to be herself. She's fairly decent at that. Britney on the other hand keeps forcing her junk on the public. On a serious note I do wish Britney well in conquering her inner demons and raising her children. And she can do that better without the glare of popularity and fame in her eyes. Ann Coulter I could have selected many political commentators on both sides of the spectrum but no one matches Ann for her lack of cleverness and creativity and her classless hatred of all things not Ann approved. "John Edwards is gay". Ha Ha Ha Ann, you're killing me. And you are apparently wrong about that BTW. And just like clockwork she says something non funny, non clever but very hateful and the news shows all have her on so she can give a ridiculous explanation as to what she meant. The one good thing about Ms. Coulter is that her popularity is a sure sign of how wretched our culture is right now. Maury Povich If you aren't a daytime TV watcher (IOW you have a regular yet non teaching job) you probably haven't had the "pleasure" of watching Povich's parade of paternity tests, she males and general depravity. What this man does is disgusting and he preys on the misery of broken depraved lives, giving them a forum where they can embarass themselves and all of us as we see how low our culture has become. Steve Wilkos deserves a dishonorable mention here for his show of berating child molesters and abusers for ratings (not a problem in and of itself), all the while not giving them a chance to prove their innocence or any semblance of a fair hearing (and that's the bad thing). John Edwards A good looking empty suit who pretends to care about the poor while getting $400 hair cuts. Its not his political positions that annoy me (we are better as a nation if we hear all opinions), its his lack of ability to express those opinions inspirationally, the utter lack of anything original in his positions and his frequent displays of a lack of intergrity, condemning us for our excess while being guilty of the same excesses himself. This adultery scandal is only icing on the cake. I do wish Elizabeth Edwards well, this stress certainly does not help her in her fight against her cancer. Please note that Edwards' "indiscretion" took place while Elizabeth's cancer was in remission. IOW: he's just low, not the lowest of the low. Joel Osteen OK, this one might get me in trouble. Unlike the others, he seems an affable chap. I dislike the others but not him. His wife on the other hand seems to be quite the fireplug judging from this civil suit against her (an airplane incident, you'll find it with a search for Victoria Osteen or in the "current events" forum here, it should be mentioned that by all accounts Joel behaved well during the incident). Anyway, I could have chosen a number of TV preachers (turn on TBN or Daystar right now, chances are you'll be watching a preacher that I'd rather would disappear in a tremendous Word of Faith rapture) but Osteen is a challenge and a different beast. My beef with Osteen is his positive, life success theology. I think preachers need to be harder on their flock, I don't like "feel good Christianity" from the pulpit. I won't say his doctrine is false (don't know enough about the specifics), I just disagree with the emphasis. Look at the last Super Bowl, the two coaches were Tom Coughlin and Bill Belichick. These guys are the opposite of cuddly and affirming, they are two first class jerks to their team. And their teams responded. The church needs a kick in the butt, not a pick me up. Tell you what, I won't wish Osteen goes away, I'll be happy with an occupation switch. He can be a motivational speaker with a Christian twist instead of a preacher, admit he has more in common with Tony Robbins than Billy Graham and I'll be happy. So there you have it. Perhaps I'll add to this as time goes on. Have a great week and see you next time.
