Has anyone ever been scared to live a life? I have been in a rut, or a prison so to speak, too long and don't know how to get out. Any advice would be helpful.

I'm scared every time I start a new project or accept another bid for services. I have many people and whole families relying on me for work, while trying to put bread on my own table. But it's also that fear that makes me reach further, stretch my thoughts and ideas, find things in the market where we could do better, and take a risk by dumping more perfectly good cash into a hair brained idea. My wife seems to have finally gotten used to me coming in and saying... hon' don't write any checks, we just spent it for expansions and it'll pay off in a few months. But I think I can give myself a pay check this month to cover all of the bills... if our customers pay me on time.

You may be depressed or have anxity issues. Get a physical and talk to your doctor about it. Then maybe see a Christian Counselor to get to the heart of the issues that make you scared. Read the book Running Scared: Fear, Worry, & the God of Rest by Ed Welch. The words "Do not be afraid" are uttered 365 times in the Bible, so God wants to speak to your fears. What exactly are you afraid of??

When I first surrended to Christ's call on my life a big part of the struggle was over the fear of coming to Him. For I knew He would require great and mighty things of me that I was simply incapable of doing. Nevertheless, in the end I said if He were going to lead me out into a dessert to die so that others laughed at me for trusting in Him then that would be His fault and not mine. As soon as I had said it, I felt that He accepted it and I was at peace.

However, over the years the more I see of other mens success in life as well as my own in doing different things is that it is all too easy and in many cases they boast too much of their positions, professions and wisdom. All of this just goes to show that anything is possible for them who are in Christ.

Now the fear of doing something new is one thing but the fear of doing nothing is a greater motivator with me. I am afraid if I do, and I am afraid if I don't so I might as well have a go for I have nothing to lose in Chirst. Scripture says that a people without a vision are destroyed. Now many run here and there trying to do things and achieve alot but simply miss the point of being like Christ in the process. At present I am resisting the desire to get involved in local body politics simply because I see that although I would do well, I am not convinved it is the best platform for advancing the kingdom of God. You could say that my fear is that my involvement with the things of this world would distract me from my first love and I simply do not see salvation in politics for anyone but apart from that politics is so dull dry and boring I would die from it.

I guess you could say you don't have to start with the big things but the little things in Christ and then work you way up to the bigger things as you find the power of Christ in you. That is teach sunday school before you turn to preaching groups of more than 500. Work on your relationship with Christ for perfect love drives out all fear. For if Christ is for us who shall be against us? Sure we may fail in mens eyes but what shall seperated us from the love of Christ? Even Paul having suffered all he had at the hands of men says Ro 8:37 - No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

The greatest fear is in being Chirst and not in doing things.

Hello NowIsntThatCute

Have you thought of going into your prayer closet and calling out to God? Have you studied God's word to know what life in His kingdom is like? Do you fellowship with joyous believers? What do you watch on TV? What web sites is your browser told to open? What things do you read? What do you listen to?

God offers us life or death and we are free to pick the one we want. So, have you chose God's version of life?

I am afraid of being rejected. I have kind of gotten used to not being "known".

When I say being scared to live a life I mean relationships. I have a very hard time opening up to people and some of my beleifs about people are a little screwy. I am a whiz with computers and programming but I have never been so lonely and have a very hard time opening up to people.

Thanks for the "Do not be afraid". I didn't know it appeared n the bible so many times. The psalms have been very helpful. I especially like psalms 142. John 6:37 is one of my favorite verses.
