I now go a to more places when I shop in the next town over where most everything is. I use to run over there about 4 times a week. I buy more necessary things so I don't have to shop as often. We had a garage sale for a weekend vacation gas money. I don't get all the magazines I use to.

We shop at Save-A-Lot, which is more generic foods than name brand. If there's anything we need that we can't get there, we'll go to Martin's but never as our main market trip. We eat out far less than we did before. I make my own laundry detergent. Food prices are going to go up more soon, so I'd like to come up with some more money-saving ideas.

We are making room for storage... for more home canned goods. We will be hitting the farmers market and local back yard gardens for vegies. We used to do this all of the time, and I miss opening a quart of home canned beans and tomatoes in December. So I've convinced my wife to start canning again.

Well since prices are up we are- Not going as much. Today for example we've been home ALL day. Neither car has left their parking places since yesterday. In fact my van hasn't left the garage since Saturday! It's not that we haven't wanted to run to the library or go to the zoo, or go swimming, but we've chosen to stay home and do things here. Tomorrow I think we are all going to get up early and go into town with my hubby (he has class tomorrow) and maybe hit the library, the zoo and WalMart too. Like mentioned above - we combine errands and do a lot more in one trip instead of making several little trips. We watch prices BIG time. buying more and more generics and off brand things. We also do some canned good and snack shopping at a little Mom and Pop down the street from us - it's a difference between .30 cents for a can of diced tomatos or .80 cents for the very same can at the grocery store 10 miles down the road. Snack cakes for .89 cents here or $1.89 at the grocery. We've cut out golf, tennis and swimming lessons for all the kids. This one was tough as the lessons are free, but the gas money spent getting the kids to and from the lessons 3 days a week all summer long would just be too much! We planted a garden - now we've done that in the past, but this year we expanded it and will be freezing more of it then last year. Next year we are going to expand our garden even more and we are investing in a freezer. Blessings, Garsy

Well, admittedly, I haven't done much, but what I have done: I quit getting my nails done I quit driving clear across town every Friday for my challah We eat at home far more than we used to I use the camper way, way less Oh, there is something I ought to write here, but I'm too proud to write it! Writing it would make me face it! Other than these things, I have always been fairly frugal, but my daughter is way better at these things than I will ever be! What I am considering doing but haven't done yet: Walk or ride a bike to work instead of driving my car Buy a scooter

we have looked at our monthly budget, and adjusted the amount for the 'gas money' envelope. to keep the monthly budget balanced, we adjusted amount that we are paying toward the credit card balance for the credit cards we don't use anymore. even with paying more per month for gas, we are going in the right direction with credit, though, after 1 1/2 years of doing the dave ramsey course.

We have been pretty good about conserving on gas by combining trips and errands. I am able to ride my bike or walk to work because of the distance from home to my job. My husband, however, works 30 miles away. In order to get better gas mileage, he drives the car that has the better MPG. Also, since I do most of the grocery shopping, I have cut back on going to the store and try my best to come up with meals from our current stock of food. I am trying to clear out our pantry and freezer so as to eliminate waste and then want to plan meals based on the sale flyers from the grocery store. How often do you go to the store?

We've started shopping every other week, and the library once a month. We also put out a huge garden.

I don't guess I can think of any changes in our day-to-day living. Then again, we work at home and aren't nearly as affected by gas prices as someone who has to drive to work every day. Tony

I've just filled the car with gas. £1.20 per litre. I leave it to you clever guys to work out the price in $. I reckon it will soon be cheaper to fill the tank with whisky !!!
