that we may present to Thee a heart of wisdom. This verse from Psalm 90 is a challenge to us. I'd enjoy hearing how the Lord is teaching you to number your days so that you present to Him a wise .

If I'm understanding the topic correctly, it's about our priorities. Before I go further with this, I would like to make sure that I understand the question. I may have read it wrong.

DD, From the context of the psalm, my understanding is that our time on earth is very brief...here and gone. But that we need to use what time we have wisely because it is all God's time. . . we are stewards. So, then the question becomes how do we learn that each moment is what is significant. . . eternally significant. Living in the present moment and all the while being conformed, growing in His likeness. Your thoughts? LL

Wow, that's a deep question LL! No quick reply for this one I guess it's best described for me by losing someone you love dearly. At the time of death, of our loved one, we then begin the "process" of grieving. We remember the could've, would've and should'ves. It's not until someone is gone that we realize how very much we loved them. (Disclaimer: these are my thoughts and i am not intending on projecting them to the whole!) Time is short and we live in such a way that reeks of busyness, forgetting the truly important things. The Bible says that what we set our hearts on, there our treasure will be (paraphrased). I have learned that in the deaths of loved one's, I held on too tightly. I forgot that I was only allowed the privilege of borrowing them until it was time for them to go home. looking at it from this perspective has helped in the passings. I look at my husband, children and parents in this manner. I take the opportunities I have to spend with them and cherish them because time is so short. I don't know when it will be time for any of us to go home. Priorities are so different now. Time is still short and many of my friends have not made the full commitment to Christ. They are still playing with the idea of it. We don't have time to play with the idea of eternal life. This is serious business! Taking the time to share of His love and Mercy and how He has changed me is a priority. To share that they too have the same opportunity to live life more abundantly. And I don't mean materialistically more abundantly. I'm talking about the cup that is full to overflowing, even when the days are dark and the roads lonely. Life is not all about work, work, work. Look around you, what do you see? How many gifts has He placed in your path just so you can pause for a moment and relish the beauty of it? Our time should be spent sharing these gifts of God to others as well. Reminding people to slow down just a little bit, be still and Know that He is God. It's about loving to the fullest capacity that we as humans can possibly muster. Letting go of the little things that really just don't matter much in the end. Looking at the grand scheme of things and asking ourselves, how important is it really.Managing our time in such a way that is freely moving from one project to the next without hurry and being rushed. Managing our money in such a way that it is not a god to us, to the point that we seek more and more and more, but we become grateful that we have just enough. Taking each moment life has to offer and not taking it for granted that tomorrow is just another day.

What comes to mind is that we are to be wise stewards of our time. This reminds me of Ephesians Chapter 5 quote:
Ephesians 5 (whole Chapter) 1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. 12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. 13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. 14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; 21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. 22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

I am sure there is a direction you want to go , but, I will claim ignorance and proceed in the same. Christ is my wisdom. It is He who is stored up in my heart. It is He who is my heart; and it is in Him that treasures are hidden. If Christ truly is my life, then to know Him more and more is the only way to know what life now is. If I want to know more about myself, I need to know Jesus more. If I want more wisdom or knowledge, I need to know Jesus more. It is as simple and as complex as that. Colossians 2:2-3 "My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." The Christian life is Christ, and only He can live it. Knowing that our days are short should cause us to desire to know Christ more, which in turn will cause Him to overflow to those around us. And isn't that really what it is all about? Isn't Christ our heart of wisdom? Peace

I mean, I know what I think but I truly wanted others thoughts both in ways of confirmation and challenge. What you gave me was confirmation. I have written in my Bible below this verse (present to Thee a of wisdom), JESUS. As I have written in His name at various points in my Bible. Yes, it is more and more Jesus. He is my wisdom (ICor 1:30). But I love the verse from Colossians that you used. Our Wed eve Bible study studied the book of Colossians a year or so ago and I so enjoyed that. But then I enjoy ALL of God's word---its riches are beyond me yet so precious and real to me and minister to my deepest need. Anyway, thank you for expanding on a heart of wisdom. I hope others read your thoughts and are blessed as well. LL The Holy Spirit is amazing in the way He carries the same thought, the same theme, the same Jesus, all throughout the Bible. Inspired indeed Thank you for your confirmation as well. You are a true blessing to me and I am sure to others as well. Peace

Psa 90:12 - 17 (ESV) 12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. First of all, we must be teachable. When we are, the very center of our being is focused on God 13 Return, O Lord! How long? Have pity on your servants! We are but dust. We long for the day He will return for us and transform us into His likeness. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. The only thing that has lasting satisfaction is knowing God. 15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil. God uses the hard times for our good. They are His refining fire. 16 Let your work be shown to your servants, and your glorious power to their children. What we do matters. We are to lay a foundation for those who follow us. 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! As long as He gives us breath, we still have His work before us.

Yes, colliefan, being teachable is so important. A wise man will hear and increase in learning. Proverbs 1:5 That is why it is so important to be quick to hear as James tells us. Because hearing and disciplining ourselves to hear is the beginning of the learning process. Your synopsis of these verses is good. I like, enjoy, appreciate (that's my amplified speaking ) hearing and then pondering what others glean from God's word. I was wondering about verse 16 however. As I meditated on this psalm, I took this verse to be speaking of God's work, not our own. In other words, we need to be like Jesus, observing all that Our Father does, and then doing that. (John 5:19)` So then we are praying Lord, let us see the work of Thy hands, let us see what You are doing, how You are working in this situation, what Your will and purposes are. . . and then we proceed to pray verse 17 which says and do confirm the work of our hands. Only when we see what He is about can we enter into His work in the world. I see much Christian work being done out of the individual's thought and desire (wood, hay and stubble) instead of out of His. So that is why I pray this way. . . Lord, show me what You are doing in this person or that situation or my life and help me enter into Your work because that is the only work that holds eternal value (gold, silver and precious stones). Those are my thoughts on this verse. What say you?

Teach us, good Lord, to serve thee as thou deservest; To give and not to count the cost; To fight and not to heed the wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest; To labor and not to ask for any reward, Save that of knowing that we do thy will. SAINT IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA (1491–1556) We can do little things for God: I turn the cake that is frying on the pan, for love of him; and that done, if there is nothing else to call me, I prostrate myself in worship before him who has given me grace to work; afterwards I rise happier than a king.
