I came across a review for this factually-based/semi-autobiographical account of American expat author, Lauren Zuckerman detailing the absurdist obstacles for anyone who wants to take up a job-secure career as a teacher in The French educational system, but unable to, thanks in part possibly deliberate attempts to derail career hopefuls of non-French citizenry or background.

Aside from the usual pan-Atlanticist conflicts between Middle American values and Old World European (especially French) society, I think this should be integral reading for anyone who not only have a beef with OUR educational system, but surprisingly enough, likewise with the French educational establishment, since according to those who read/reviewed the controversial bestseller, French students rank somewhere in the lowest with English language skills! Especially in the Nicolas Sarkozy phase of French-American relations, I hope this will somehow foment some cooperative relationships between The U.S. and the 5th Republic, regarding the oft-dubious nature of the academic monopolies that does more to hinder progress, much less equality in both countries, if not both continents!
