A long, long time ago there was a land called Christian-Dum, ruled by a very wise king. It started out as a splendorous land, through the dominion granted by its Lord; it was truly glorious. In a short time however, the King departed on a journey (to prepare an even more glorious kingdom for His people), leaving his will as planned, and His Counselor to guide them. With these helps, His subjects would be able to see their way in this world. He told them to occupy the land till he returned.
However, after His departure, many of his people lost touch with their king. They failed to seek His wisdom from the Counselor or read His Will so that they could keep the vision alive. Pretty soon a void of guidance, from lack of understanding (where there is no vision the people perish), allowed error to creep in. Though He had given them absolute authority in His will, stating all power in heaven and earth was granted Him, still the poor folk of Christian-Dum were not able to get a handle on running the kingdom He had left behind for them, though that was their very occupation.
His enemies had even crept in unawares and fomented rebellion within the ranks and there was civil war in the peaceful kingdom.
Dominion was lost somewhere in the midst of this and the fine citizens of Christian-Dum began to fall into want. There was a dearth of every imaginable sort; healing, provision, peace, etc. Mercy and love were all but lost. Even the love He demonstrated to His subjects was lost between them and though in the process of time, His will was available in every corner of the land, most of His subjects were completely ignorant of its contents, having failed to ever open the book and read it.
Towards the time of the King’s return, perilous times were afoot. Men became lovers of themselves, heady, high-minded, unable to think of ought but their own lives. Sadly, selflessness was the very bridge that would restore the dominion lost to the kingdom, and the very thing by which, said the king, “All men would know that you are my disciples; that you have love for one another.” As self-awareness replaced God-awareness, the bridge to dominion has slowly almost disappeared. The bridge is in the shape of a cross. The cross is yours, not His. He has already been there.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (His Will); but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another (John 15:12-17, ESV).
I know I've lived in this kingdom for a while and unfortunately even visited here occasionally afterward, how about you?
