108.) Prophecy 42, Messiah will be seated at the right hand of God.

Psalm 110:1
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Fulfillment:

Hebrews 1:3
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

What Yeshua Said about Himself

This brings us to a very important question. What exactly did Yeshua say about Himself? Some think that other people made Him out to be more than He, Himself claimed to be. Some say that Yeshua never claimed to be the Messiah or the Son of God. Let’s look at what he said.

109.) Jesus says that he is the Messiah

Some say, that Christ’s claim to be the Messiah was only something that others added on later.

Mark 14:61-62
….the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Yeshua said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Here before the assembled Sanhedrin, the high priest point blank asks Yeshua if He is the Messiah. In the presence of the Jewish high court Yeshua answers that He is indeed the Messiah. The high court rejects His answer and condemns Yeshua.

Not only at the trial but, even before His trial, Yeshua told the people of Israel that He was their promised Messiah.

John 10:30-33
I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Yeshua answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

Not only did Yeshua claim to be the Messiah, but He also claimed to be God. He claimed to be one with God in such a way that can only be understood as a claim to divinity. The people who heard Him understood that He was claiming to be divine and that’s why they reacted so strongly.

110.) Jesus says that He is God

No, man can not become God, but is it too hard to believe that God could come to earth in the form of a man? Jesus claimed to be exactly that, God on earth.

John 8:56-58
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Here Yeshua asserts that Abraham was looking unto Him. But what confused the Jews was that Yeshua was only around thirty years old and Abraham had been dead for almost two thousand years. Yet, here Yeshua claims to have spent time with Abraham.

How did He do that, easy He told them that He was God. He tells them that “before Abraham was, I AM.” Yeshua here plainly states that He is God by using the phrase “I AM”, which in Hebrew is YHWH.

This is part of the divine name, “I AM THAT I AM”, that God revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai. This name conveys the thought of God’s eternal existence. Jesus told them that BEFORE Abraham was, HE existed.

Yeshua is the only person to have claimed to be God come in the flesh, and to have millions of people believe in Him.

111.) Jesus says that He is to be Worshiped

John 5:23
That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

Yeshua plainly declares that he is worthy to be worshiped in the same manner as God the Father.

The Jews had sought to kill Christ because to them He was committing blasphemy by claiming equality with God. Jesus turns the tables on them. He declares that the ONLY way a person can really honor and worship God is by receiving the Son. Therefore, His accusers and all those who reject Christ as God are actually committing the real blasphemy.

People who claim to worship God, but do not worship Jesus, the Son, are fooling themselves. They neither worship nor honor God. To reject the Son is to reject God. The person that does so is lost for eternity.

Anything less than worshiping Jesus as God eternal, is dishonoring God.

John 5:24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Here Jesus swears an oath, and seeks to draw our attention to what He is getting ready to say. It is like saying, “pay special attention to this , this is really really important.”

The term “hath” is a present day reality and reflects that the believer has eternal life, NOW. Believers in Jesus possess eternity in time. We receive this gift of LIFE by faith, NOW.

It is not that a person may hope to have eternal life, providing that they are faithful in their walk here. It is not that we will receive eternal life at the end of our days, but rather we have passed over from death unto LIFE, here and NOW. That does not mean that our external tent, the body, will not grow old and perish, but rather that in our inner man, we have the eternal LIFE of Christ, here and now, in time and space.

I have encountered those people who do not believe that a person can have eternal life NOW, but that a person has to wait until after passing over to the other side to receive eternal life. They at best have the hope of eternal life, however, we do not receive eternal life through hope, but rather by faith. If all a person has is the hope of eternal life when they leave this life, they will never receive it after they pass away and instead will pass into eternity lost, forever.

Jesus lays it out very simply for us, to accept Him is LIFE, to reject Him is death. Choose LIFE.

Yeshua says that anyone who receives His atoning sacrifice is restored to spiritual LIFE, and will not remain eternally separated from God.

112.) Jesus says that He is the sacrifice for sin

John 6:51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Notice that Jesus did not say, “I have come to bring you the bread of eternal LIFE” But rather, “I am the bread of LIFE.”

He makes mention that He will give His flesh. In this Jesus is looking to the Cross. Many people admire Christ and believe that He was a great spiritual teacher, but the life of Christ alone, would not give us LIFE. That is to say, Jesus did not come to just teach us some spiritual truths, that alone would not do it, He came to offer His life on the Cross as an offering for sin.

Christ without the Cross would not have helped humanity in its fallen state. It takes more than just spiritual truths and spiritual knowledge to set men free from their fallen state. It takes the Cross.

Jesus states that He is the ultimate sacrifice for man’s sin. This reminds us of what God said to Abraham: “God shall provide Himself a lamb.”

113.) Jesus says that He has authority to forgive sin

Matthew 9:2-6
And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

Only God has the authority to forgive sin. Here Jesus does not hesitate to reveal His divine authority and nature by forgiving the sick man of his sins.
Then to prove to the skeptics in the crowd that He really does have the authority to do what He just did, He heals the man and commands him to walk.

In an earlier section we saw that the “Angel of the Lord”, Malach YHWH, is actually the Son of God in a pre-incarnate form. In Exodus 23:21 God said of Him, “Take heed of Him, and harken unto His voice; be not rebellious against Him; for He will not pardon your transgression; for MY name is in Him.
