In a recent discussion about infidelity many things were discussed and I would like to see what other christians have to say about the subject.

The bible states that for redemption, a theif must repay what was stolen 10 fold.

In infidelity situations when theft occurs this is not possible. Time, affection, emotions, intamacy are things of the moment and once that moment has past those things of that moment are gone. How does the person who took what rightfully belonged to another and give it back 10 fold? How does the person that gives to someone what they should have been giving to their spouse give it back 10 fold?

I am amazed at how lightly the lies, secrecy, fantacies, affections, emotions and physical aspects of situations leading up to and in infidelity are taken and how easily they seem to attempt to be justified. I look around and listen to find that the shame of such behavior is growing less and less in the world every day.

I'm not sure what version of the bible you're looking at. I checked BibleGateway.com NIV for this verse and could not find it. Exodus 22 makes a number of references, but this is before Christ dying on the cross. We cannot restore a person. Only Christ can do that. All we can do is ask for forgiveness.
