Tipping Cups at Coffee/Doughnut Shops, etc. - 7/12/2008 2:27:02 AM

When you go to a doughnut, coffee shop or other establishment and they have a cup for tipping, do you leave at tip? People in these positions while making minium wage do make more than people in tip paid positions.
Also, when you order a pizza or other deliveries, do you tip also?
How about when you go get a haircut also?
How about the person who delivers your morning paper?
Or when traveling at the airport or hotel?
All of the above positions (to the best of my knowledge) pay at least minimum wage their pay is not based on tip income.
I was just wondering if you do or don't tip in these situations.

BTW, I tip all of the above except for the paper delivery person and the establishments that leave a cup out as well.

How about when you go get a haircut also? yes - they rely on tips
How about the person who delivers your morning paper? when I did have the service - now you can pay the tip directly to the newspaper
Or when traveling at the airport or hotel? yes
I don't tip at starbucks, quiznos etc. They are paid hourly. I did the same job years ago and never got tips.

I think that the latter is what sponded me to start this thread. Where do people in coffee shops get the idea that we should tip them?
