I will be travelling and moving soon with kitty with a truck which will be driven by a mover. The trip would take between 3 hours and 1/2 to 4 hours. I will certainly put my cutie kitty in her carrier. However, I would appreciate all the tips and hints you have for travelling with a kitty. Please bear in mind that my kitty is highly sensitive kitty who rarely left the my place and even in the few cases when I took her out to the vet in her carrier she would be stressed out and would be growling most of the time till we reach home and I release her from the carrier.

Should I put her on a fast from food and water in the night before our moving day so that she does not do an...excrete any....unpleasant thing during our trip? Also should I position her beside me in the truck so that she can feel secure, Or should I put her at the back with the rest of the stuff?

Thanks for any tips and pointers you may share!

HERE is an article that may help.

I have to say that traveling the three miles to the vet and the cat hotel is about the limit of Mr. Roosevelt's endurance. If I had to take him any distance at all--like moving or something--I think I would see if the vet would give him a "happy shot." He detests the carrier, and having him loose in the car is...unthinkable .

Music on the radio or the iPod calms him some.

Himself had a cat that he would take on 650 mile trips to his parents' house. He put litter in a shoe box and had a large carrier, iirc.

Make sure to stop often to give him water--cars are pretty dry.

Thanks {{{Ps103}}} for the info, that was very kind! I also like the article provided.

Music, kitty and me are highly artistic folks so I will make sure to make this available!!! Nothing makes a trip shorter than the company of music. I hope and pray she won't get scared and if I put her on a fast for only one day, I don't think she would suffer. In any case, she would start eating as soon as we arrive, so it's not a big deal.
