How do you feel about your weight? Just curious. Don't want to just dig up negative feelings if there are any there, but I've been thinking about weight and wonder what's on other people's minds about it.

I would like to lose between 30-45. Losing 30 would put me in the high end of normal on the BMI chart, but I am small boned so I suspect 45 is closer to what I really need to lose. I am ok with where I am now, but in some ways I feel like this body is not "the real me." Because of my bone structure, I wasn't made to carry this much weight. Aside from the thoughts of having to eat right and low cal (which is at least 3x a day) and when dressing/shopping, I don't really think of it. I do the best I can with where I am at now to be healthy, be on the downward trend, and to dress the body I have with sense.

Wow Harvie! That is wonderful. Are you following any particular plan or just modifying things? I'm not brave enough yet to say how much I want to lose but I have started my journey a little over a month ago and lost 14 so far. In some ways I get very discouraged that the number is still so small but I guess I have to be glad at least I'm losing. I think that is one of my major obstacles....I get discouraged thinking it should have been more with all the work I've done and then I give up. But, I also know it's healther to lose approximately 1-2 lbs a week so I guess I'm on track. It is amazing though how much difference it feels after losing 14...there's a little more zip in my day. Can't wait until I lose more.

I have lost all I want---actually more than I intended to. I don't know how many pounds because I don't weigh, but I went from a size 12 to a size 1. Now I'm just working on toning and firming and that's going well. Feel good for an old grandma.

HAVE YOU LOST WEIGHT? Hey! Have you lost weight? What is it about this seemingly innocuous (and complimentary) question makes me want to rant some days? I think it is the absolutely inappropriate use of the word "LOSE" in the context of weight reduction and dieting. After all, the dictionary definition of "LOSE" is as follows: to come to be without (something in one's possession or care), through accident, theft, etc., so that there is little or no prospect of recovery; to fail inadvertently to retain (something) in such a way that it cannot be immediately recovered. Let's face it, peeps. We don't "LOSE" weight in the sense that we absentmindedly leave a pound or two here and there as if they were wayward car keys or the long lost remote control. And nobody is stealing any of MY fat. In fact, no one I know accidentally or inadvertently "LOSES" weight these days. Nope, nope, nope ... not at all. If anything, we have to pry weight from our bodies like those annoying price stickers stuck onto items that we are trying to wrap as holiday presents. You know the kind that you lose fingernails scraping off, using everything from a crowbar to boiling water to lighter fluid? THAT, my friends, is sort of like what it's like prying those extra pounds clinging to our chubby bodies. And THEN comes the really hard part .... keeping that weight off ... which is much like trying to shove gummi worms through a keyhole in a doorknob. Of course, in polite society, it is usually best to just smile and be gracious and say "Yes, I have lost weight" rather than embarking on a 10 minute rant involving price stickers and gummi worms, lest people conclude that my calorie deficit has caused some sort of escape from sanity....even though that's probably true! And I will just politely continue the myth and misconception that either (a) hordes of marauding criminals are breaking into my home at night and filching my fat; or (b) I have become a lovable absent-minded housewife who keeps blithely misplacing spare pounds as I wander the grocery store aisles. Yeah. I still have about 20 to lose. Already lost ~40. I'm at ~180, and my current goal is 160 (I'm thinking of aiming for 150 once I get to 160, depends on how I look when I get there). I joined Jenny Craig in late July/early August. Almost no exercise, until recently when I started ballroom/salsa dancing. Soon I plan to start going to the gym to tone and stuff. Motivation is key for weight loss. I've done it before but it always comes back. I think I finally have the motivation I needed to keep it off, but we'll see. :)

Close to a 100 pounds over what I like, even more weight should be lost for ideal. Can't get started. have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, clothes fit terrible, beer belly without drinking. Totally disgust myself using my stomach as a table. Joined a gym with personal trainer and lost 25 pounds (gained it back), but couldn't afford to continue with a trainer. Not disiplined enough to continue alone. Worst habit, I have to eat something, usually very fattening, on my way to/from work (hour commute). One of those things you think won't happen, I used to run marathons, play golf, softball and basketball. Amount of time involved for these activities took its toll on family time. Instead of the arguements or trying some compromise i quit all the activities. No arguements, but lots of hamburgers and fries.

Down 38# as of this morning and still a ways to go. This time I will make it and keep it off. I'm in for the long haul (I figure two years of slow loss to get there). I found a web site I really like that has helped a lot. Plus a lot of factors came together in my head last May. The verse about our bodies being temples of the Holy Spirit finally, really, sunk in deep and gigged me to action.

Yes. I always gain weight over the winter. Most likely it's because I run outside 4-5 days a week, and my body just wants to add some extra blubber to stay warm. Usually, come spring, the weight just falls off. Not this year. I'm still at my winter weight. Only about 5lbs to lose. However, for a triathlete, that's 5lbs extra that I have to carry.
