I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

I dread going to work today.

I am ready for a vacation, a time where I can spend it on what I would like to do and not on what has to be done such as a dentist visit or court hearings.

The children bought hubby a humongous recliner for Father's Day. Two people can easily fit on it and it takes up a good deal of room but it is comfortable and hubby was pleasantly surprised by what the kids did.

Good Monday Morning Everyone

Thanks for starting us out this week Ginny. Hope your day at work goes well today.

Happy Belated Fathers Day, to all you dads out there
We went to a cook-out by my dads yesterday afternoon. Then when we got home, our older kids came to visit. My husband got cash from one child, a gift card to Fleet Farm from another, a Kick multi-tool from another, and beer with a bag of nuts from the last two kids. It was sort of funny when our 15 year old carried the 12 pack out to my husband! He did'ent buy it tho..altho it looked like he had. My husband did a double take look at him.

No rain in our area since last week
So we are suppose to "crest" today. Then it should start going down. Sure will be nice to have the road back. It's up to 8" now covering the roadway. My pier is under water yet. And we keep pulling out pier sections that go floating by. Good thing we know who's they are, and are able to return them.We have our own pier tied down, and hubby has large brick pieces weighing them down.
It has cooled down to 68 degree's, with low dew points. Feels really nice out there.

Good morning, Ginny! Great verse to start us out with.

I'm sorry your work is something you're dreading on a Monday morning. I think you'll be more relaxed once your term there is extended. I sure wouldn't want to live with that stress.

What a cool gift your kids gave your husband! I gave my credit card to my kids and sent them off to buy dh's favourite BBQ foods and a gift. He made a good meal of steak, ribs and prawns, chased down by mango ice cream. Yummy! Neither the kids nor I had a clue what to give dh for a gift so they went to a specialized store to buy a bunch of his favourite snack foods. He seemed happy. I was kind of disappointed that the boys didn't do something for him on their own.

Good morning to you too, Barb. Your dad sure got a bunch of nice things. I'm glad you've been rainless this past week. I can't imagine looking out your window and seeing flood waters. Winnipeg has had its share of flooding. We're in a very low-lying, flat "valley" with the Red River running through. It doesn't take much for the river to overflow its banks. 1997 was a terrible year for flooding. That's when much of Grand Forks, North Dakota was destroyed by the same flood. Winnipeg was safe only because we have a huge "ditch" around the city into which extra river water can be diverted. In 1997, that ditch was close to overflowing. Much of the southern part of the province was evacuated and the army came in to help build dikes with sandbags and stuff. I remember leaving the city to pick up ds1 who had been helping sandbag for a day or two. It was dusk and a long, endless, single-lane caravan of vehicles, loaded with whatever families thought most important, was slowly making its way to Winnipeg. It reminded me ofa scene in "Gone with the Wind" where people were leaving the burned out Atlanta. What a sobering sight!

I'm doing okay today. I had a good, unbroken six-hour stretch of sleep last night and then another three and a half hours following. I have to decide today whether I'm well enough or not to keep my regular Wednesday doctor's appointment. Ds3 said he'll drive me if I am. I guess I'll wait till a good chunk of the day has gone by before I decide.

It's sunny outside today.

Good evening, everyone . . . guess I'd not made it in here yet today. Thanks for starting us out, Ginny. I too am sorry you were dreading work this morning, and really hope it went better than you expected today. That was a great gift your hubby got. Hope he enjoys it -- maybe he'll let you sit in it with him

Barb, it sounds like you all have a mess going on, too. So many areas are suffering from all this flooding. One would sure have thought it would have ended by now. Here we are nearing the end of June and some of my flowers are still suffering with mildew. We had severe T-storms this morning . . thunderclaps loud enough to rattle the house -- sheesh!! Sure was nice to lie in bed and cuddle while we listened to it, tho . . . we rec'd lots of rain with that, so we're pretty saturated again in these parts. Brought the temps down, tho, so stayed in the 70s all day -- that was nice, too!

We had a good weekend . . . Melissa & her family surprised us by coming down Friday night to attend the reunion with us and bring her dad his Father's Day gift from all of us (it seems like I may have posted this in the other thread, so if I'm repeating myself, please excuse ) -- a new cordless drill. He really likes it, which is amazing cuz he never likes anything we buy him, in fact, doesn't want us spending money on him at all. But he likes this

Yesterday, I was really just lazy all day, not even going to church. Today I didn't have Garrett again, so spent the a good part of the day sewing -- after going to the gym this morning. I managed to get a skirt and top altered for a woman . . will charge her more than I would pay for the outfit new, but that's the way it is. Tomorrow I will patch some jeans for a man, then baste the legs and waist of a pair of suit pants for him so when he comes for the jeans he can be fitted with these pants. Hopefully, this will work so I don't have to take the waistband off and practically remake them for him. These jobs pay more, but I sure earn the extra. Give me 10 pair of jeans to him anyday over one major alteration like this or the outfit I just did

Leah, as always you sound busy with the sewing. I couldn't do what you do. The patience required to take apart and resew and alter better you than me. Glad hubby enjoyed the drill.

I almost didn't go to church yesterday too and thought about sleeping in. I'm glad I went but I was having a lot of trouble staying awake during worship and didn't stay for Sunday School. Went home to my bed and another nap.

Work was fine. I am sorting through paperwork, getting my filing organized. It seems like there is always plenty of paperwork to sort through. I have an area I stack my filing in with little postee notes and then go through it when I can to set up files.

It has been slow so now is the time to work on the filing. I'm caught up with everything else. Need to go through the data on my hard drive and the 4 jump drives I have and reorganize them too. But first the paperwork. And of course the emails I receive need to be gone through to see what I can delete and what needs to be printed off to be filed for future reference.

I use Outlook a lot keeping folders under the Inbox for emails pertaining to different things. I use my Calendar a lot too and my Contacts. I haven't been using Tasks that much though. I usually write down my tasks.

I believe I will keep a notebook for tasks so I can refer to it and go over what I've been doing day to day, how I've planned, what has had to be planned, etc. A notebook would help me to have a digest of the duties of my job which is important as it is a job that is constantly growing as I get ready for two nursing programs instead of one.

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

Leah, my sons bought hubby a cordless drill a couple years back. He LOVES it, and uses it all the time. We have had to replace the rechargeable battery once so far. They sure are expensive tho. I was thinking about getting him another one. Mabey for his birthday in Aug.
Why do folks buy clothing that does'ent fit? Just wondering, with all that alterations you are doing. I still need to get my granddaughters summer dresses started soon. I better get started with them. Someone gave me a link to pattern of a dress once in here. A hankie dress? Was that Maggie?

Hi Ginny,
sounds like your day went well yesterday.

Good morning, Barb --- & all who show up later

Barb, this is the 3rd or 4th cordless drill Bill has owned, but only the 2nd really good one. I bought him a Dewalt nearly 15 years ago. He's not had to replace the battery, but it was getting where it didn't hold hte charge long, so we really needed to. You're right, tho, they are quite expensive, which is exactly why we hadn't done it. The new drill is also a Dewalt, tho he said there are a couple of other brands that should be just as good (I asked him before we got it so we would buy the right thing )

I guess ppl buy clothes that don't fit cuz they can't find them to fit. I know I have that problem. Even petites, if I can find them in plus sizes, aren't short enough. And this woman I'm doing so many alterations for is built like me, so everything has to be altered. Plus, she's losing weight so even her own things are getting too big and too long on her now.

Garrett should be here within the hour. Since I knew I was getting him late, I took advantage of the time AND the cool weather and did some trimming with the push mower outside. Now I'm hot, sweaty & exhausted . . guess I should go shower before he arrives.

Leah, yes, hubbys cordless drill is a Dewalt. He really likes it
Well that make's sense about the clothing. Guess I never thought about that.
I was cleanning the bathroom. Got all the drawers done also. What a mess if things are not put away where they belong.
Now I need to go outside and weed around the house..by hand. It's 69 degree's out there now. And the grass should be dry enough to sit in now. The sun is finally out drying everything up a tad.

Barb, I don't know anything about a hankie dress so it definitely wasn't me giving you that link.

Hi Ginny, Linda and Cassandra! I'm being really, really lazy today. I don't even want to shower, though I know I need to.

Well, Maggie you must have went to take a shower afterall, cuz I don't see you in MSN.

I've had to do a bit of hustling the last couple of hours. A customer called wanting her husband's sports coat altered, and a pair of pants hemmed, could they come out at 1:00. Sure, I'll be here. I was trying to get some skirts hemmed for someone when another customer called about 11:00 saying she needed to come out for her husbands jeans I patched . . . I thought she said she'd come out tomorrow, not today!! Dunno who misunderstood who, but I said I'd go ahead and do them (forgetting all about the customer coming out with the sports coat, which would need to be fitted). They were to be here at 1:45. I got right to it, but it does take some time to sew patches in tight-legged jeans. Plus I had to feed Garrett, change him and get him to bed for a nap about 12:30.

At 1:00 the first customer came out, and we were still chatting when the next ones came . . . the jeans weren't finished, so I asked them if they'd wait a few minutes while I did that. Thankfully, they were quite pleasant, and chatted with me while I sewed on two more small patches. He told me he'd given my name to a guy at work who was needing some alterations done, so I gave him a couple of my business cards to hand out

Thankfully, Garrett finally put himself to sleep (after the last customers arrived), but not before he nearly cleared off my bedside table, the stinkpot! I found my glasses and a hair clip in bed with him

Anyway, I'm ready for a break

At least you didn't find a glass of water in bed with him.

I finally got some information about my employment insurance and it could be Greek for the sense it makes to me. And I can't get into the proper websites that might answer some of my questions. Sigh.

Welcome IceQueen!

Insurance, yuck to wading through that Maggie.

Barb, I think I sent you a link to a pillowcase dress, maybe that was it.

Leah, I too am amazed at what people will pay for alterations, but I guess it makes sense if stuff doesn't fit.

Swimming lessons are this week and next so that's getting me out of the house on a regular basis.

Welcome Ice Queen!

Yes, Dee, it is amazing. These ppl are definitely into bigger $$ for clothes than I will ever be. I do like it when they give me stuff, tho . . . and this lady has given me several things already.

I did go back to work after my break on here. God another couple of skirts cut off, one of them hemmed. I used my blind hemming stitch for most all of my hems anymore. Saves me lots of time.

This evening I went thru all our file cabinets (4 drawers total) searching for my birth certificate. If I can't find it, I will have to apply for another this week or next to get my driver's license renewed. Our state is now refusing any birth certificates without the state seal on them. I'm sure mine has that, if only I could figure out what I did with it . . . it's made me so tired to shuffle thru all those files, cleaning as I shuffled. I didn't find the birth certificate, tho

I fixed spaghetti for supper, and there's enough left for tomorrow's supper, or Thursday's, if we decide we don't want it 2 nights in a row.

I am so enjoying these cool evenings & mornings . . hope they continue for a long time. We're finally getting spring

Well good grief! I typed this all at 6:30 this morning then forgot to hit
send

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. We have a very cool 54 degrees out this morning. Wonderful spring weather! . . . . I'm trying to force myself to go to the gym

No, Dee, we've not always needed the birth certificate. In fact, we've not needed it since we got our first license. In the past we've only had to provide our current driver's license and maybe a Soc Sec Number. But now they're saying we have to have Proof of Lawful Presence which would be US Birth Certificate (certified with embossed or raised seal issued by state or local government), US Passort, or Certificate of Citizenship/Naturalization/Birth Abroad; pluse Proof of Identity -- Soc. Sec. Number; plus Proof of Residence, which can be one of several things, including most recent utility bill, etc.

I'm assuming it's all part of tracking down illegal aliens, but I know it's a pain in the behind. Actually, we were looking for the birth certificates long before we knew we needed them for renewing our license.

Man, I don't want to go to gym, but guess I better be off.

Interesting Leah, I wonder if all the states will be going that way? All we need now to renew a license is the old license. For a new one you need a social security card and I suppose a birth certificate at that point; my oldest got a state issued ID at around age 10 because she was going to fly somewhere so I've kind of forgotten.

Ok, I'm back from the gym. Picked up Garrett after I was finished, then we went to McD's drive-thru for my coffee, by the bank to cash a check, then stopped in town to see the 'train' at the Viva Cuba Garden . . . it was pretty cool that Garrett seemed to recognize it as a train . . wish it had a whistle to blow . . . the two gentlemen that built this train [father (G) & son (c)] are friends of ours & members of my church. Extremely talented guys, both of them -- in fact, the whole family is extremely talented. G is a taxidermist who also paints and carves -- and now does metal sculpture, with his son helping him in his business as well as running his own web design business; G's wife is our pianist & worship leader, the dil (C's wife) is also part of the worship team, their daughter is a singer and works at Joyce Meyer Ministries. I saw the train at their house before they finished it. G had a whistle hooked up in his shed, so when we came in the door to view the train, they blew a train whistle . . he talked about how neat it would be to have a whistle on the train. Now, the gardener who was working when I was there this morning tells me they are indeed looking to put a whistle of some sort on it that would sound at prescribed times of the day. That would be pretty cool . . . kinda makes me wish I'd taken part in the beautification project.

Bill was still home when we got here, so he came & got Garrett out of the car to take him to the shed for a bit, but Garrett had other ideas, and when I got back outside to join them they were at the backyard swing . . . we stayed out there for a while, but it started sprinkling so we had to come in.

I need to continue looking for that birth cert., or I need to go to the county seat and apply for one. Owell, it's only 10 miles away -- guess that won't kill me. First I need a shower, tho

Dee, according to the front of the renewal card, this is new legislation since 2005; it doesn't say whether it's state or federal, but I am thinking federal. You may want to ck with your state government.

My sil is coming over for a sit in the backyard swing . . . haven't done that in a long time! So I hurriedly took my shower so I could relax and enjoy. Still haven't found the birth cert., but it will wait another day

I had to get a new license the last time mine came up for renewal. NJ made everybody get a new one with a picture. To get it you needed all kinds of documentation. A current or expired license wasn't good enough. I needed my birth cert., social security card, and insurance card.

Kansas licenses have had pictures on them ever since I've had one in the late 70s.

My daughter may be getting her regular license one of these days, so we'll see.
