I'm looking into buying a new cell phone and switching my cell phone service. I've been using Alltel but I don't need all the minutes anymore. How is your cell phone service? Do you have any complaints about it? Do you use a pay as you go plan, month to month, or 2 year contract?

I've used Verizon for several years on a 2 year contract. Not sure what else they offer. I've had no problems with their customer service.

I've had Cingular (BellSouth was majority owner) for years, but recently AT&T bought BellSouth and Cingular and we're going through a network "optimization"....blending of the two networks together.... and IT STINKS! My sister also has AT&T and we're having problems talking on the way to work. We used to have NO problems.

I've got the plan that lets you have a 2nd phone for $9.99. It's more minutes than I need, but it's better than paying for two services.

'had AT&T then went to Cingular, because of dropped calls -then 'went to Cingular, Cingular became AT&T-- and by the way AT&T did not buy Cingular -- AT&T were bought and they kept AT&T name because it's more a popular name, I know because I used to work for SBC. Anyway, I do get a lot of dropped calls and sometimes 'can't make calls from inside of a store and 'just have to move until you get a better signal. We use AT&T because of the family plan which is cheaper plus my entire family and most of my friends have the same provider and it saves us money.

we used to live in Germany a few years ago and our cell phone company over there was Deutch Telecom, which over here is the same service provider as T-Mobile...so when we moved back here last year we stayed with them. We just use prepaid cards though...it works for us.

Another I did not see on your list, but it isn't in all areas is Cricket. We used them for a few years when we lived up in TN years ago...and we liked them a lot. It's a flat monthly fee and you get free incoming, outgoing local, and outgoing long distance if you add that feature, for that set fee (back then when we had it was before they did the long distance and it was about $40 a month or so for the free incoming and outgoing local ). Check their web site HERE for more info on if they are in your area.

I have Alltel. I have never changed services, but when I first got the service (over ten years ago) it was Centell Cellular, which was bought by 360 Communications, which turned into Sprint and then Alltel.

I have never had a problem with my service unser any of its names.

I get the two year contracts, mainly because I don't have to pay for phones that way .

The last time the contract ran out, I did look at all available services and while there were some minor differences, in order to get what we wanted, the price always turned out the same, so I saw no reason to switch.

We have used Alltel for about 5 years now, and have no problems.

There are 4 of us on the plan, I love the "My Circle", unlimited text pics and vids, and that we can change our plan anytime during the month without any problems.

DH had Verizon, they are AWFUL. I hear very few good things about them, especially their customer service.

Now we have Tmobile and have been far more then happy with their customer service and reception.

Verizon for over a year and before that U.S. Cellular.

No major problems with either one.

We have a tracfone, my daughter has a pay-as-you-go Alltel phone. She has that because her grandparents had a Alltel phone they were no longer using and they gave it to us. Both work OK.

I have AT&T and have no complaints. We keep renewing our 2 year contract and have been with this company since they were Bellsouth Mobility, two buy-outs ago. I rarely have dropped calls and can make calls many times inside concrete buildings. The one time I do get dropped is when dh steps into the elevator at his work. My bills are always correct and if I need customer service they are always politely helping me. There have been times when we have decreased our service plans and they have done so with a smile.

Over the years I have heard such great things about other companies that I have looked at them twice when our contract was up and they all bombed while I was asking questions about their service. I never felt comfortable enought to even try them. I can't remember the particulars of what all happened, but I do recall that Sprint refused to answer my questions and basically told me that if I signed up and was unhappy that I would just be stuck. If that's how they treat their potential customers, I wonder what they do with their real customers.

We have had Verizon for almost 2 years now and no problems. We went with them because all of my family and most of our church family also have Verizon, so calls to them do not come out of our plan minutes.

We have AT&T and have been with them since they were originally AT&T, then Cingular, and now back to AT&T. We've never had a problem with them or their service. I especially like their customer service. We've made so many changes to our business and family plans and they make them instantly with no problem and have always been great to work with. Once, we even needed to cancel a contract and move a couple to different names/plans and they did that with no fee or problem. We're on 2 year contracts.

We have a total of 6 phones through our plans and and are very happy with them.

I don't think what service we have is important to your question..

The question you need to ask is "What/which provider will suit my needs for my area?"

Who do your friends and neighbors use? Who will give you the best coverage for where you travel and call from most? Who will give you the best plan for your money in your area?

We've had AT&T for almost 10 years. We started in Alaska, moved to Florida, Virginia and now California, all with AT&T and have had no coverage problems. Even with cross country driving and a trip to Mexico. We love their customer service, didn't mind the hassles with them going to Cingular and now back to AT&T, through it all they've been great.

Thanks for everyone who answered this post. I finally decided to go with Verizion. I got the 450 minute plan for $39.95 with nationwide calling. I also bought a real neat Motorola Razr phone with the 2 year plan.

The phone has everything I need on it and some nice old fashioned ringers as well.

LOL, we started with them when they were SunCom and then went to ATT, then to Cingular, then back to ATT. Still with them and just upgraded our phones for free last week. We didn't like them for a while, but when all of our issues were ironed out, we decided that the rollover minutes are definately worth it and have had no problems since that one time. I am sure if you look, there will be a post somewhere with me saying that we are just waiting for our contract to be up so that we can switch over. But we stayed.

We've had Verizon for about 6 years now and keep renewing every time the contract is up- we've had no problems. Everyone in my family has verizon, so most of the calls I make don't come out of my minutes. DH and I have the lowest minute plan plus the $9.99 for the second phone, and we still never even come close to using all of the minutes.

I use Orange as a phone provider and haven't had any problems with them. They have always been very helpful and don't try to sell me products that i don't need.

We use Verizon. They have always had good customer service. Cingular customer service = I don't know if they are still as horrible now that they are AT&T but I'm not willing to find out.

Verizon for several years with no problems. We sign up for one or two years at a time, whatever it takes to get nice free phones.

I have Verizon, but my contract runs out in July, and I don't think I'll renew.

I just don't use a cell phone enough . . . I only got this one when I started traveling back in '06. I think what I might do is get one of those pre-paid phones instead of a month-to-month plan.

I also keep my cell phone turned off. When I got my cell phone, I converted my land line number to my cell phone number, but with that came all the annoying solicitation phone calls. Companies are still calling CS and offering him credit cards.
