There used to be a thread on it but it is gone now. I just saw it for the first time. That was suspenseful alright. It was a bummer how it ended though.

I took one look at the trailer and knew I couldn't watch it because of the jerky camera movement. I couldnt even watch it and everytime it came on, I looked away. I don't do well with things like that--the motion sickness is triggered.

Gah! It was all fine until the end. Totally made me mad! I was like...wait...it can't be over! *sigh*

Other than that, we liked it.

I have a severe motion sickness so when this came out, I did not want to watch it. I got sick for days when we watched Blair Witch few years back. We rented the DVD and son and hubby watched it and hubby told me that the motion is not that bad. So I watched it and 'was really surprised that I was able to tolerate it and enjoyed it...well...until the last part. So I liked it.

I thought the ending was the best part of it.

I watched it last night. It was not as bad as I was expecting. I did not expect the ending. But not a horrible movie like the critics were saying.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Knowing what the style of filming was, I avoided watching this in the theater, and I'm glad I did. I got a horrible headache watching The Bourne Ultimatum in the theater, so I was pretty sure this would be the same, if not worse. It was worse. :-) Thankfully I could take breaks from the DVD.

But yeah, the story was really cool and original I thought.

aside from critics not-so-good comments about the movie.i think this movie is way better than any other thriller movies on the mainstream.i thought the cinematography is ok though it's shot by using only the camera one character has been holding 'til the near end of the flick.for me it's 7 out 10.unpredicatble ending though.

I picked it up to rent it at Blockbuster and the woman behind the counter talked me out of it. She said I would waste 2hours of my life that I would never get back. Maybe when it comes on TV I'll watch it.

Loved, loved, LOVED the end. The story was never about the monster. The story was about his love for her and confessing it. Fantastic writing. It ended just when it should.

This movie seemed to much like the movie Dragon Wars (I think that was what it was called) That movie had the same camera "home movie" feeling. Except it was two Americans in Japan.

You must hate all movies, then.

I just got done watching Cloverfield. I fast forwarded through the cheesy drama bits and mostly tuned into the action. I don't know how I feel about it, I kind of feel disappointed that in nowhere lived up to the hype.

Yup, my reaction too.
I think this movie had potential.
I think they should have scrapped the documentary style feel to the movie, and the first 15 minutes (I couldn't see the point of it, it really dragged).
Then I couldn't get over the silliness of the main character going to find that girl, but yet they didn't take any type of weapon or supplies with them, not even a flashlight for the tunnels (when they knew there were those "Things" out there).

It could have gone into more detail about the monster, although I can understand that could have been intentional.
If you watched the DVD extras, you get more info, it's a baby monster (I'm smelling sequel....maybe....), and I have heard (didn't see it myself) that the ending scene shot when they were at the carnival, when the camera is pointed in the distance you can see something faint crashing into the ocean (maybe a meteor?), obviously the monster crashing onto earth so you can kinda piece together where the monster came from...not from Earth.

Anyways, I think the movie had potential but the negatives (that shaking camera got on my nerves!!) overshadowed what could have been a cool monster invasion flick.

In a time of emergency, in which case you're the one being threatened, you're not going to stand still for the sake of getting quality shots.

That's the perspective the movie tried to capture.

Every movie has a camera for every scene. I don't understand what you're getting at.

This movie was good because of the view perspective. I loved it! The 1st person cam view made you feel like you were actually in the movie. The plot was typical, very similar to war of the worlds. The main actors were great! The ending was lame though, they could have made it more better, suspense. But overall I liked it it was something different (view perspective), 4 out of 5. Maybe the next scifi/thriller movie will be in 3d and we'll have 3d glasses lol.
