It keeps the blood pressure up. Yeah, even though I'm a news junky and I read about these kind of happenings all the time, it still never fails to get me upset! There are so many attacks against anything christian, and they are coming from so many angles it makes your head spin! I don't know why but lately watching all these gay people on TV is hurting my stomach. It seems to be everywhere, I'm like if it is only 5% gays in US, are they ALL on TV now? Sure seems like it.

My husband has gotten so disgusted with it though that he will literally change the channel evertime a show seems to be promoting being gay!

On the radio today I heard a Christian program discussing the differences between homosexual marriage and heterosexual marriage, using mostly generalizations based on statistics. What saddened me the most is that we've been lowered to the point of using the term "homosexual marriage" in the mouths of Christians. I wished we had kept a hard line on not calling it marriage unless it is a man and a woman, thus keeping the definition of marriage the way it should be. We license cars and we license motorcycles, but that doesn't mean that we have to call a motorcycle a car. Well, we can license marriages (heterosexuals) and we can license homosexual covenants, but we don't need to define "marriage" any differently than we were doing in the past. The other thing about this line of argument is that even if 99% of homosexual marriages are rotten, the guy on the radio should not be discriminating against the 1% who are succeeding by depriving them the right to marry, if he is basing his arguments merely on statistics like he seemed to be doing. (I am pretty sure it was www.probe.org on the radio.)

It is because certain channels have an agenda and that agenda is to promote the homosexual lifestyle so that it will be accepted by society. Hollywood in general has the same agenda. Like others here, I just turn the channel...a drop in their viewership is the only thing that gets their attention.

Religion in private' OK, declares ACLU New limits on Christians leave family groups reeling Posted: June 27, 2008 12:15 am Eastern © 2008 WorldNetDaily Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter Colorado's new state law that critics say criminalizes expressing biblical beliefs regarding homosexuality is scaring residents who fear their overheard statements could be used to put them in jail. WND reported the law, SB200, which was promoted as an "anti-discrimination" plan favoring alternative sexual lifestyles and gender perceptions, has made it a criminal offense to discriminate against someone based on those lifestyles or perceptions. The Christian publishing house Focus on the Family has called it a payback by the Democrat-controlled legislature and Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter to homosexual activists such as millionaire Tim Gill, who has donated widely to pro-homosexual political candidates. Story Continues

Another congregation embraces an abomination. Presbyterian assembly votes to drop gay clergy ban ERIC GORSKI Originally published 12:23 a.m., June 28, 2008, updated 12:24 a.m., June 28, 2008 The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), bitterly divided over sexuality and the Bible, set up another confrontation Friday over its ban on ordaining non-celibate gays and lesbians. The denomination's General Assembly, meeting in San Jose, Calif., voted 54 percent to 46 percent Friday to drop the requirement that would-be ministers, deacons and elders live in "fidelity within the covenant of marriage between and a man and a woman, or chastity in singleness." The proposed change to the church constitution requires approval from a majority the nation's 173 presbyteries, or regional church bodies _ a yearlong process that has proven to be a barrier to similar efforts in the past. Story Continues

Doesn't that actually mean that anyone could be ordained minus chastity? Gay or straight?

Here is a followup on Colorado SB200. Colorado Law: 'Publishing of Discriminative Matter Forbidden' Christian Opposition Press Conference July 1, DTC Marriot Contact: Donna Ballentine, American Right To Life Action, 888-888-2785, office@ARTLAction.com DENVER, June 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- Leaders representing many Christian organizations will hold a press conference tomorrow, July 1 to announce plans to oppose Colorado's new censorship law, SB 200. Section 8 of the new law reads: "Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden. No person, being the owner... agent, or employee of any place of public accommodation... shall publish, issue, circulate, send, distribute, give away, or display in any way, manner... or method, except as provided in this section, any communication... book, pamphlet, writing... or advertisement of any kind, nature, or description THAT is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates against... SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status... in the matter of... schooling... or any accommodation, right, privilege, advantage, or convenience... on account of... SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status... [which] is unwelcome..." Story Continues This certainly doesn't sound like it will withstand a federal court challenge. It's too vague and left open for definition. It can be used to infringe on Constitutionally protected rights as written.

I thought we needed some comic relief. Apparently this Christian news organization http://www.onenewsnow.com/ , funded by the AFA, routinely edits AP articles to change any usage of the word "gay" to "homosexual." AP frowns on the editing of their articles in this way, but that usually doesn't prevent news organizations from doing it anyway, often to push a certain agenda (another good example is Fox News, who edit all AP articles to change the words "suicide bomber" to the completely nonsensical and redundant "homicide bomber"). So anyways, I assume that in this case, someone saw the word "gay" in the article, thought it was an article about homosexuality, altered the word, and then posted the article on their website with the changed headline "Homosexual runs wind-aided 9.68 seconds to make Olympics" without paying much attention. The original AP article was about a man named Tyson Gay, who broke a world record, and was titled "Gay runs wind-aided 9.68 seconds to make Olympics." This blog has an excerpt from the article, which they've since taken down: quote:
Tyson Homosexual was a blur in blue, sprinting 100 meters faster than anyone ever has. His time of 9.68 seconds at the U.S. Olympic trials Sunday doesn't count as a world record, because it was run with the help of a too-strong tailwind. Here's what does matter: Homosexual qualified for his first Summer Games team and served notice he's certainly someone to watch in Beijing. "It means a lot to me," the 25-year-old Homosexual said. "I'm glad my body could do it, because now I know I have it in me." [...] After the race, Homosexual and Dix looked at each other and slapped palms, then hugged. http://willdo.philadelphiaweekly.com/archives/2008/06/tyson_homosexua.html Anti-Gay hilarity ensues!

Police officer sues LAPD and Los Angeles, alleging religious discrimination While off duty, the sergeant, who also is a pastor, gave a speech in which he called homosexual acts an 'abomination.' By Victoria Kim, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer July 2, 2008 The Los Angeles Police Department engaged in religious discrimination by disciplining an employee for off-duty remarks made about homosexual acts, an LAPD sergeant has alleged in a lawsuit filed against the city and the department. In a fall 2006 eulogy delivered at a fellow officer's funeral, Sgt. Eric Holyfield, who also is a pastor, said homosexual acts were "sinful" and an "abomination" and would lead to condemnation in hell, or the "lake of fire," if one did not repent, according to a lawsuit he filed June 19 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. After those comments, LAPD passed him up for promotions and pay raises in retaliation, Holyfield alleges in the suit, saying that he was discriminated against for his religion and that his 1st Amendment rights were violated. Story continues

Those are good reasons to not get promoted or get a pay raise. He should be thankful he was not demoted/fired/fined. His first amendment rights were violated. He said what he wanted to, and nobody stopped him. He is not owed promotions/raises. Free speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of speech. Perhaps next time he wants to preach on homosexuality, he will choose a better venue than a fellow officer's funeral.

Newspapers. Not enough background to understand how and why this came up. It does seem insensitive to the family. But I would need more information to understand this properly. But this also tells me that the police department is hostile to Christians. quote:

John There are some who claim the context of the history flips all we know upside down in Scripture on this and makes it dance to their tune, and only us troglodytes see things as they are simply written.
