I'm getting "the look" right now from Bailey who's sitting at the back door looking at me. I'd better go and spend some time with him.

Had a great party for my mom's birthday yesterday although there was no chocolate. I did make a to-die-for cake though "Italian Cream Cake". It's pretty much half fat, half sugar. YUM! I also made a sugarless one for the diet conscious and diabetics. The italian cake went faster......

Also got to play with my nephew and the "biiiiiiiiiig ball". He's almost 2 and everything is "biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig". Wish I got to see him more - my brother and sister-in-law live in Phoenix - too far away!

Gift card thread in She Says....

The diabetic cake was called "Sugarless Applesauce Cake". It turned out pretty good but was more like zucchini bread or banana bread in texture. It had applesauce and raisins in it with lots of spices like nutmeg and cinnamon.

Ugh... Not feeling well for some reason.... I hope I'm not getting sick although that would explain why I am so tired today.... Wish I could teach my dog to "nurse" me, but she seems to think I'm to cater to HER... I mean, why does she need to eat everyday? And why do the cats expect fresh water and clean litterboxes? How selfish.....

Sorry you're not feeling too well right now. I hope you're feeling better soon.

What is it about pets? Expecting to be fed and paid attention to every day? To be honest, I get a huge case of the guilts and bad feelings if I don't see Bailey every day.

When you're up to it, can I please have that cake recipe that you're talking about? I'm diabetic, so I'm always looking for new recipes.

I think I'm improving, but blech! Almost called in sick today, but I was starting to feel a little better so I figured I might as well head in. I hate taking sick days because them I'm behind for the rest of the week!

Here's the link to the cake recipe

OK. I normally can't STAND when people send me garbage to my email, but this warning got me laughing so hard (sadly the person who emailed it to me probably believes it ). I can just picture people doing what it says!

quote:

A spider bite...please read...........
And you thought the brown recluse was bad!!!
Three women in North Florida , turned up at hospitals over a 5-day period,
all with the same symptoms. Fever, chills, and vomiting, followed by
muscular collapse, paralysis, and finally, death.
There were no outward signs of trauma.
Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood.
These women did not know each other, and seemed to have
nothing in common.
It was discovered, however, that they had all visited the same Restaurant
(Olive Garden) within days of their deaths. The health department
descended on the restaurant, shutting it down. The food, water, and
air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.
The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was rushed
to the hospital with similar symptoms. She told doctors that she had
been on vacation, and had only went to the restaurant to pick up her check.
She did not eat or drink while she was there, but had used the restroom.
That is when one toxicologist, remembering an article he had read,
drove out to the restaurant, went into the restroom, and lifted the toilet seat.
Under the seat, out of normal view, was a small spider.
The spider was captured and brought back to the lab, where it was determined
to be the Two-Striped Telamonia (Telamonia dimidiata), so named because
of its reddened flesh color. This spider's venom is extremely toxic,
but can take several days to take effect. They live in cold, dark, damp
climates, and toilet rims provide just the right atmosphere.
Several days later a lawyer from Jacksonville showed up at a hospital
emergency room. Before his death, he told the doctor, that he had been
away on business, had taken a flight from Indonesia , changing planes in
Singapore , before returning home. He did not visit (Olive Garden),
while there. He did, as did all of the other victims, have what was determined
to be a puncture wound, on his right buttock.
Investigators discovered that the flight he was on had originated in India .
The Civilian Aeronautics Board (CAB) ordered an immediate inspection of
the toilets of all flights from India , and discovered the Two-Striped Telamonia
(Telamonia dimidiata) spider's nests on 4 different planes!
It is now believed that these spiders can be anywhere in the country.
So please, before you use a public toilet, lift the seat to check for spiders.
It can save your life!
And please pass this on to everyone you care about.

Oh man! I'm just dying here: So please, before you use a public toilet, lift the seat to check for spiders.
It can save your life!

I thought so too! I can just picture ladies in the stalls next to me "lifting" the lid to check for these "evil spiders". Just cracks me up!

Maybe we shouldn't be so hard on our men for leaving the seat up after all. Maybe they've known all along and just haven't told us.

Maybe we should be carrying cans of Raid into the restroom instead of Lysol.

Yes, men are the weaker sex, but in this case it's women that need support...

Hey - snakes are cool! I mean, WHO was it that talked to the snake in the garden? Hmmmm..... The snake probably tried to approach Adam first, but Adam probably ran away.....

At least that'd mean he didn't listen to the snake. Adam's mistake came when he listened to her!
