I thought I was all alone on Differential and Integral Calculus were my toughest courses. For an engineering student in a masters program who hated all mathematics, life was tough. I didn’t graduate at the top of my class, but I did and now everything is done on the computer and not a slide rule [“slip-stick”] and we didn't even have electronic calculators, remember the Bomar Brain? or HP's first graphing & recording calculator?

My education was fairly eclectic; bachelors degree in music & masters degree in mechanical engineering, no wonder I’m so conflicted. I think that is one reason I would up in law enforcement for 12 years, now I’m back in engineering. Now, I’m just too old to worry about it.

I've recently returned to school after leaving with a GED over thirty years ago. I'm in a two year degree program and so far my most difficult class has been Web Portfolio Development. HTML, XHTML, CSS, Java-Yikes! I got through it and managed to get an A somehow but it was a tough course for me to master.

Literary Criticism was the hardest class for me.

neuro psychology

I just finished clinical neuroscience. It's not psychology... It's the biological perspective of mental illness. It was rather difficult, but over quickly because I took it in a 3-wk term instead of a full semester. Very interesting, just a lot of info.

Wow some of those classes are insane. But, I have to agree with Brand77- Biblical Hermeneutics is very difficult especially if the prof is only a few months older than you and knows 11 different languages and your lucky to know the one you grew up with. No really I'm not that off but Bib Herm I was not bad but we are getting close to midsemester and Bib Herm II is getting hard when you open the text book to read the lesson and you LOOK and say this is Greek to me .... And it is actually Greek and Hebrew on the same page. AAAAAAAAArrrggghhhhhh! But the prof tries to make it easier.

[sm=comp1.gif] And getting scheduled for an online course and not having a computer is even more fun. I finally broke down in the middle of last semester and somehow bought this lovely laptop. lol With Lots of $$ that I did not and still don't have. But it is honestly paid for. Guess what I will be doing this summer.. Wild guess>

It was ACCOUNTING.....BY FAR.

I was going to Business School (Northwood University in Midland, Michigan) for Advertising/Marketing....and the degree program required Accounting I & II.

Got about a D+ in both.

Pretty much everything else wasn't too hard...and, 20 or so years later, I can say that it really didn't matter....and, that Iam doing great without it.

(After getting that degree, I ended up in art school, and Iam now an Art Director for the Marketing Communications Dept. of a multi-national firm, based in France....whose U.S. HQ is in Fort Worth)

I do remember the professor for I....he had a voice that sounded oddly similar to Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes....listen to that for 2 hours straight, and see how you do!

Quantative Methods aka Statistics aka Sadistics.

elastic -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (2/28/2008 1:01:16 PM)

I'm pretty sure my most difficult class was Business German. Not only do i know nothing about Economics and Business things, I certainly don't know anything about them in another language. (Our class was taught in German. i'm shivering just thinking about it)

I can tell you that "Angebot und Nachfrage" means "supply and demand". That phrase was used on a daily basis, so it's the one business german phrase i will never forget. [&:]

AuntieRei -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (2/28/2008 5:11:38 PM)

I'm a business major - I'll graduate in May with my associates degree. This fall I'll start working on my bachelors in Accounting.

I have 2 that I hated!
One of the toughest classes was Statistics! Hated that class - but luckily the professor used the bell curve so I ended up with a B. If not for that I would have failed.

The other was Calculus!! Don't know why that's required of a business major??? The whole class was doing poorly. The teacher (an adjunct) wasn't going to teach any more college classes, so she made our last 2 exams take home and even gave us a take home final. I ended up with a C in that class and was pleased as punch to get it! Had it not been for those take home tests I would have surley failed! I was going to drop the class but she talked me into staying. If I wasn't passing by the week before finals, she would let me drop with a WP (withdraw passing).

Karaboo2 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (2/29/2008 4:43:59 PM)

I didn't really have any 'hard' classes (I've always been academically gifted) ... but there was one which was torture to sit through ... Child Psychology. The professor had a monotonous voice (even in regular conversation, there is NO vocal inflections). He essentially photocopied the texts onto overhead transparencies and read them word for word!!! I dropped the course after the 3rd week, studied the text like crazy, and took the equivalency exam the following month (and got a 98).

That professor's BQ (boring quotient)??? 350!!

bzirk -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (2/29/2008 5:52:44 PM)

I absolutely loved hermeneutics, but it was a little daunting, since I was the only female in the class, and the fellas were not all that enthused about it. My future husband, who was only a friend of mine at the time, had taken the class a year or so before me, so I wanted to pick his brain about it, but we just never could make contact with each other. However, I happened to overhear my classmates talking about a copy of a previous student's notes, and from hearing them talk, these notes were just fantastic. Well, they passed them around for people to look at, and I was the last person to get them (about 6-8 weeks into the class). They were really good notes, and I was happy to get them. Then a few months later I started dating my future husband, and he happened to see my notes and comment, "Hey, where did you get a copy of my notes?" [8|] Yep, they were his notes. We still have the original notebook with some of his other notebooks.

...[:D] heheheh

It's funny, I don't understand, How is it possible to ever expect the student to speak about business in German if he doesn't know a word in the language ..
I've been learning German for..4 years now, but haven't gotten far past Guten Tag, Danke level [:D]

gracescartwright -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (3/16/2008 6:40:50 PM)

oh man, definitely my anatomy class that was a prereq for nursing school. it was awful. for our first test, we had 36 single spaced, two sided sheets of size 12 font notes. to memorize. and it was all about fltration in the kidneys! I studied for 3 hours every night for 2 weeks and still only got a B. I had the course for a year!

solo_soprano22 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (3/16/2008 9:48:26 PM)

Ick. I had to take mammalian/clinical/advanced anatomy and I hated that kidney stuff... It was an interesting class, but it was too much stuff for just one semester.

My professor (when he was working on his Ph.D.) said he took a class with the med students and theirs was two semesters....I'm pretty sure he was trying to push two semesters' worth of stuff into one with us.

redeemedsaint -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (4/1/2008 2:37:11 PM)

Accounting 2. That is why I didn't pursue a career in Accounting.

Musicluv2 -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (4/8/2008 4:22:13 AM)

Biology and Chemistry were real hard classes for me, one reason for this is coz the material was so boring that i had trouble keepin awake.

Mandicute -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (4/10/2008 8:52:44 PM)

Chemistry. Nuff said.

deermousie -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (4/11/2008 1:42:56 AM)

I'm with you, Solo_soprano22 - physics gave me fits. I flunked it in junior high, flunked it in high school, flunked it in college, took it again and flunked the first half of the year. My roommate prayed for me and I finally got it (God gave it!) and passed it. Barely.

We had a Fluid Mechanics course taught by a prof nicknamed Dr. Death.

That same semester I had Calc IV and E-mag (Electromagnetic Physics), both very tough. In total I had 6 calculus classes and 3 physics classes, but those two were the toughest of them all, and I just had to take them in the same semester.[8|]

I also took a really time-intensive computer programming course that semester. Plus I was going through a lot of personal stuff then... small wonder I nearly broke down that semester.

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: What was your hardest college class? (4/11/2008 9:13:05 AM)

I would have to say Physics and Nutrition.

Physica because...well, it's just not my thing. *shudders*

And the nutrition teacher didn't like me too much for some odd reason and seemed to make it so much difficult for me. Later I figured out she was pushing me to reach my potential but I sure didn't see it that way at the time! I was a psych major and just took this course as a 'filler' in my schedule. Riiiight.... [8|]

lol, I hear ya. My hardest class was heat transfer & fluid flow. 2 really hard topics rolled into 1 class. I could have died!

But a close second would be internal combustion engines. I don't even like cars all that much; why did I take that class?

On the other hand, the very BEST class I ever took in college was History of Rock and Roll from 1970 to the present! What an awesome class!!!
