G'day LadyMOH...nice to meet you.

Aussie's may seem a little strange to you...and we are!

Hi ladyMOH,
Glad you enjoyed your visit down under.

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/8/2005 5:05:02 AM)

I had a lovely day today, even had lunch out.

But now I'm spending Mothers Day evening helping J finish off a science project he'd forgotten to mention. Luckily our head pastor, also J's teacher, mentioned it when we ran into he and his wife and another pastor and his fiance whom we ended up having lunch with.

Ausme, I have to say this. I'm pretty certain that your screen name is meant to be pronounced Aus - Me, but every time I see it I'm tempted to pronounce it like Esme. [:D][:o]

I love Canberra too. It is a really pretty city and there are so many things to do there.

They are lovely Buddy!

Dh and X are watching Robin Hood Prince of Thieves while J does his assignment and I'm popping in and out and watching while I help J.

ausme....how do you do that?!!!!
I put a lot of graphics on my website but thought that would be too difficult to even try.

McGuiness Magee...it's the "homework" times I'm happy I'm too old to have young children. I hated homework myself so I was a pushover when my children had an excuse to get out of doing it.

My husband will be home on Tuesday. He is in Melbourne visiting his daughter. She has had a new baby. Absence sure does make the heart grow fonder.

Well good-night all...and God bless.

Marleneann.

Marleneann -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/9/2005 4:19:41 AM)

Thank you... I found the message.
I will have to do some research on the website you gave me.

I found a good place to host my photos for my website without using up the MB I am allowed by my server. It is Photobucket Image Hostings and it is free.
A good place for backup to store one's photos. You might like to take a look at some of my albums.

The montages that you made...what program did you use for that?

Hugs,
Marleneann.

cherish405 -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/9/2005 6:17:59 AM)

G'day everybody. Welcome LadyMOH.

I hope you all had a good weekend, especially all of you mums and spiritual mums.

Marleneann -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/9/2005 7:10:29 AM)

Hello Trish!

Are you really a talking horse or are you pulling my leg? *G*

I had a great weekend thanks...because I had all my three children (and their families) here at the same time. Life just can't get any better.

My grandaughter's Engagement Party went very well. All the young people behaved themselves and not one person got intoxicated. The bar was free to guests. Just goes to show you can have a fun time without drinking to excess.

Have a great week and be kind to one another.

Hugs,
Marleneann.

ausme -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/9/2005 7:33:44 AM)

Hi all of you,

Marleneann,
I used Photo Impact by Ulead to do the montages. You can sus it out <here> and also download a trial version so you can know what you are getting - great idea.
Had a look at your photos and can see you need no introduction to digital cameras lol

I save and backup all my work on hard drives and removable media. It is easier and speedier (i am on dialup still) for me to work with.

Goodnight everyone,
Buddy

ausme -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/10/2005 5:14:01 AM)

HI everyone,
It has been cloudy and rainy here all day. And it sounds as though it will get better for awhile.
Not that i noticed it. I have now got 7000+ fully catalogued photos!

Marleneann, perhaps you would like to check out this site. It is a free photo editor and could help you in your photo editng tasks.
<click here>

Now, i believe i will sit back and watch some TV.

Goodnight all,
Buddy

Marleneann -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/11/2005 6:19:52 AM)

Thanks Buddy. I had a play today and came up with some great images.

It's bucketing down rain here at the moment at the Sunshine Coast.
Great sleeping weather.

Hugs,
Marleneann.

ausme -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/12/2005 8:02:55 AM)

Hi Everyone,
Hi Gary, Dorrigo.com is a great site, I almost forgot to get back to this place! Those steam trains are a national treasure for sure.
There use to be a train line running from Maryborough into Hervey Bay. Sadly when the northern line got rerouted, some coastal towns got bypassed and our own little line was demolished. It is now an "access corridor" for joggers, walkers and bike riders. On top of this we have 17km of paved bikeway/walkway along the foreshore. There is one steam train, the "Mary Valley rattler" which does a trip once each year out of Maryborough to somewhere. Runners compete with it over a stretch.

Glad you like our vegemite ladyMOH. Not many overseas people do - reckon it is too bitter for them. I like to make a hot drink of it occasionally. I throw in some dill leaf tips which helps the bones on cold rainy days.

Our church has organised a bus trip inland to Mundubbera this Saturday. The church at Gayndah is putting on morning tea for us, then it is on to an orchard where we can pick a bag of oranges for ourselves. Should be a great trip and lots of photos. The orchardist is now semi-retired and a member of the church here in the Bay.

cherish405 -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/12/2005 8:50:00 AM)

I've never been able to get used to vegemite. Or marmite for that matter. I definitely find it too strong.

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/12/2005 8:05:03 PM)

Trish, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't like vegemite either. Or marmite for that matter.

Probably a divisive issue, but what are everyone's thoughts on the oh-so-family-friendly budget decisions?

They don't really affect dh and I as our business precludes any of that kind of help anyway, but there are so many families who it will affect and I think they're being blind to the longterm consequences of forcing Mums back into the workforce.

hi marleneanne,
fortunately we haven't been affected by dry weather like the rest of the state[nsw]. over the last couple of weeks we have had about 6 inches of rain [150mm] and our average rainfall for a year is about 75 inches so its a fairly wet area.

Marleneann -> RE: Calling all Aussies and Kiwis and their admirers (5/13/2005 11:41:55 PM)

I am a little depressed today. Went to visit my mother this morning in our church retirement village.
She in the first stages of dementure. All her clothes are mixed up so I spent the morning sorting them out. By tomorrow they will be all mixed up again. Her underwear was in with the blankets and sheets. We eventually found the new slippers I gave her for Mother's Day in her bedside table drawer. I brought a lot of washing home with me as she had clean and dirty clothes mixed up.
My grandmother (on my fathers side) requested that God take her before
she ever got into this situation...and you know what...God answered her prayers. She was eighty -eight when she died and her mind was perfect.
I think I will start asking God to afford me the same good fortune.
Well so much for letting me cry on your shoulders...
have a great weekend...
go the Lions!

Hugs for you all.
Marleneann.

(((((( Marleneann)))))

My grandpa had that when he was alive at the end. It is heart-breaking.
My prayers are with you. +

hi ladymoh! your boyfriend is right in saying that courtship isn't an Australian term, actually I thought it was originally European. Here we just say we are 'going with someone or going out together or an item. Engagement is the next step, then finally you get hitched or married.
Americans are a different breed of cattle to us. We don't go in for all the mushy stuff.
