I have a question for those who check their cervix- has it ever been "right there" before? Mine has come low, but never this low, it is only about one inch up- I'm not sure if that is a good sign that I could be ready to (finally) ovulate, or if it means that something is not up where it is supposed to be. I have had two babies, and no cycles in two years, so I'm watching for signs of things getting back to normal, but I'm not sure what to make of this...

Mine is normally pretty low, especially toward the end/beginning of my cycles.

Jennifer....according to my OB/GUN experiences, both pregnant and not, a woman's cervical positioning when pregnant is very dependent upon how many babies she has had. It will usually be higher and higher during subsequent pregnancies and can usually stay much higher longer through the birth/labor experience. However when not pregnant it can be quite low and against the norm at times in the cycle stage. I have a feeling it's just your body getting things back in line.

I swear, I am the most regular person on the face of the earth. I can usually tell when I ovulate just because of cervical fluid alone, and my period will be right on the dot 14 days later.

I got my period on Christmas eve, so I started my temperature chart then. This has been by far the most stressful month I've had in a while (obviously) and I did TONS of back-and-forth between his family and mine over my Christmas break. Three nights home, two nights at his house, Four nights home, One night there, Whole family at my house so I slept on the couch sometimes, etc. This would obviously mess things up no matter what and sometimes I forgot to temp. FF says I ovulated on the 4th and I'm just now feeling like I'm starting my period. I've had cramps and spotting for 3 days. I've had really high temperatures ever since I got to school on the 14th, with a few random things in there, too. Is it just that my room is a different temperature at school than at home? Does that matter? I'm actually taking my temp at the same time every morning, which hardly happened at home. I figured it was good to get in the habit even if I wasn't doing it 100% "right." Anyway, this is REALLY making fh feel confident about using this as bc... (just kidding), so I want to make sure everything is OK. Should I just chalk this up to stress and try again this month?

Did you notice your CF sign? If things were that wacky because of the holidays, I wouldn't worry about the chart, especially if you weren't taking your temperature at the same time every day ... that really is key! Start a new chart on the first day of bright red blood flow and try again!

alright, I'm exctied on several levels!!!! We have officially marked another month off of our list of months of not getting pregnant on the nonhormonal birth control. Very excited, my cycle that I had to panic about actually ended up being a pretty normal cycle for me, thiry days. So that was all and well it happend it was good. Cramps are getting worse but not too bad so far. I kept watching my CF and keeping track of days and moodiness this is kind of how it has gone and I'm just checking, CD 10 was some lotiony CF, along with CD 11 , plus with some light cramps and moodiness, and lack of hunger. DH and I had a nice time of, ahem, enjoyment and I had to leave my diaphragm in all night. I got up at five the next morning and removed it and then at around seven fifteen went to the bathroom and had very very distinct EWCM, very strechy. I was super super excited, my first one since going off pills. But, here is the thing, I checked again several time throughout the day and absolutely nothing. just the usual kind of slimy lotiony CF, did I ovulate? Cervic checks, probably stupid question, especially from a future nurse, but I'm not feeling an "opening" How do you tell if its open or closed or high or low?

Kia - just keep practicing! I didn't really understand the low/high open/closed thing for a few months. Once you become more familiar with the feel of your cervix, you'll notice =)

EWCM - some months I would only get one glob and that would be it ... others, I'd have a days worth! I think it can vary person-person month-month. If you noticed a progression in mucous that was going toward EW, and then it dried up and you got your period about 2 weeks later, than I'd say you definitely ovulated, although taking your temp is the only thing that can make sure of it.

Congrats on figuring it out!

Just so you know, I survived my panicked days and my period started 14 days after I really thought I o'd (not totally right with FF, which I guess isn't the greatest? and I hadn't been temping every single day). Now that I'm in a routine, I take my temperature at the exact same time every day. I check CF when I think about it. Sometimes when I am groggily taking my temperature I wonder if it maybe wouldn't be that attractive to my (soon-to-be) hubby... lol. oh well. I feel like a good fam-er now :)

Don't ya just wish that every cycle could be the same?

Usually my period stats after like half a day of spotting.

Well, Saturday at work I started spotting. I thought, "Drat! This means I will have to deal with all the day #2 cramps at work." Sunday I woke up and was not in pain and was still spotting. I thought, "How nice, God is helping me out and now I can deal with #2 on my day off." Well, now it is Monday and I am off work and I am still just spotting, my abdomen is only mildly uncomfortable, and still no increased flow. Arg. Usually I have Tuesday off as well, but I switched one day off this week so I could have off Valentines Day.

Alright one more month done. I'm gettng more excited each month as its one month closer to the end of school, and one month closer to the time that my husband and I have planned to start a family. My dh has been talking more and more about it. He is starting to get all excited which makes me excited and feel good. I am thinking that i am going to be a 28-29 dayer, is that weird? I have heard everyone say that they normally go longer then that. My cf made me think that I either ovulated on day 12 or possibly day 14. that would have put my luteal phase between 14 and 12 days. I guess thats okay. I'm still not a hundred percent sure that I ovulated but I did have some pretty reassuring cf. I just work and awful irregular nights schedual and sometimes switch from days to night and its just really crazy so temping I think would just be super difficult.

That's cool! I actually like having longer cycles, less periods!! When you do get pregnant you won't have the due date questioned by everyone in the office!! You actually will be able to use that conception wheel thingy. It will save you the cost of an ultrasound. I am not grrring you, just my ob office. I know my cycles are long, but that is normal for me. So they required an ultrasound because they think I'm two weeks farther ahead than what I know I am. Well lo and behold the baby measures just what I thought (ok so it's 4 days earlier, but that's better than two weeks!) Can you imagine if I had gone with that? 7 months from now, when I hadn't gone into labor, they'd be pushing for a induction. Anyway. When you do get pregnant and you know your o date, don't stand down. It is important that they understand that you know your body. I guess there are a lot of women who don't.

well it has only been three total cycles I guess, or maybe three starting on four. I"m not sure. I have had three visits since going off the pills. I has been, except on the birth control I always felt reasured and pretty safe about not being pregnant. Now however, I feel a little anxious at times because i know that the possibility is really there. It can happen, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I know we would be okay, and its alright, its just not the "perfect" timing we would want , you know?

Yes, I know what you mean. But when you do everything right, then the really fear of the timing is not there. Because that would be all God and out of my hands.

I think the fear, for me, would be there no matter which form I am using.

Okay ladies,

Even when I wake up at exactly 7:20 every morning, my temps are allll over the place. I always have my little ovulation pain (always on the right side though... is that okay?) and e.w. cf, so I'm just wondering if any of you go more by cf than by temping. Are you confident in using that? Do you have to do the wait-til-6pm-rule in TCOYF??

At this point, I'm thinking we might use the big C until there is no doubt that I ovulated. How much do condoms even cost? I have no idea. My fiance wants to figure out how much per month to budget for them...

Hmmm...are you able to draw a coverline? Are you sure you're ovulating?

Blessings,
Kim

I'm very sure I'm ovulating, but I'm willing to check on things. Maybe I could get some OPK's to make sure everything is working like it should before we get married?

I am usually like clockwork - my periods are alllwaays 27-31 days. Even when there is a little variation in cycle length, menses length, etc., everything is always within very normal variables. I've never had the 40+ day cycles or extremely long/short periods, etc.
When I have e.w. cf, I also had the ovulation pain. I always have the e.w. and the little pinches on the side at ovulation. But like I noted before, I'm pretty sure it's always on the right side. I had a monstrous left ovarian cyst in high school. I mean... the size of a head of lettuce... but the ob/gyn said everything should still work just fine, but I suppose it doesn't matter if I'm always on the right, right??
Sometimes f.f. says I ovulated, but this month it is saying there is only possible ovulation. Gaahh!

Do you usually ovulate every month? Can you normally draw a cover line? It's possible that this cycle is just the odd one out. If it's not then you could go to your OB with some concerns and ask for some bloodwork to be done.

To "budget" for them, he'd have to know how many you will go through a month... and well, you just can't really know that. I mean, you can have the best of intentions some days, and it doesn't work. Or, you can decide that more often one month is good, while less often the next is good. Also, sometimes they break, or don't work correctly, or whatever... and you need to use 2 before even doing anything.

Anyway, I do think it's good that he wants to budget, that's great actually!!

To find out how much they are, you also need to sort of figure out which ones you want to use. My doctor (prior to getting married) showed me all the various types of birth control, explained each one, and how to use it. Then she showed me how to use condoms... and the visual stays with me... it's funny/embarrassing. I felt VERY well informed, I was much more informed than my husband was. =) Also, at that appointment, she gave me samples of several different things, and a couple of the samples were of various condoms. That helped tremendously. So, it may take a bit of time to figure out which ones he and you like. =)

Basically, to get an idea of cost, go to Walmart or a drug store, or wherever they are sold, look around, and see the range in prices. It varies. They're not that much. =)

Question regarding cervical fluid...I know almost 2 weeks ago I had a lot of fertile (egg white stuff) cervical fluid when I used the restroom. But, I have noticed yesterday a tiny bit of the same type of CF and was wondering is this normal? Should I be having that type of CF again almost 2 weeks later or am I am just mistaking if for fertile CF?

*Note I still haven't had a cycle since weaning my son and will be testing on Sunday. The likely hood of pregnancy is slim since I am on bcp.

In the 101 days ( ) since my d&c, I've had several patches of EWCF that lasted for a few days and then stopped without me actually ovulating. Maybe your body is just trying to get started again? I'm not really an expert by any means. Or maybe you're pregnant
